Tale of Two Keeps

Cheap Keep

One evening, while perusing the Land for sale upon Peakmonsters.com, I came upon a cheap Keep.

I pondered, Why was the Keep "cheap"?

It resided upon a Tract that was predominently owned by @cryptomancer.

But then it was taken off the market.

The next day, it was back on the market.
However, not one Keep, but two Keeps.
Both amidst @cryptomancer Lands.

Were the owners underwhelmed by the pace of Land development?
Was that the motivation to release them?

Maybe. Possible.
I quickly raided my LP positions & even sacrificed some SPS.

Keep by the Lake

When Land became a thing, I liked the idea of having a Lake Plot.
@nateaguila tantilsing me with Creatives' artwork & pondering undersea wonders.

But as Land rolled out, it became harder to find a place I liked.

Caldera

I never new what a Caldera was.

A caldera is a large depression formed when a volcano erupts and collapses.

Ah, I enjoy feeling some depression from time, to time.
So, I claimed along a Caldera ridge in Region 117.

Surveying produced a Keep!

Keep on, Keeping, On!

Why did I get another Keep?

I am no OG with cards, and seeing how my first Keep, even with a low Tax Rate, allows for a trickle of rewards which bolster the amount of Grain, SPS & Research that can accumulate.

Also, there is a slight benefit in potentially receiving Totem Shards.

and plots with a Keep building will have 3x chance of finding a Totem Fragment and 1.5x the chances of the fragment being Legendary, Epic, or Rare than a regular plot. (Whitepaper)

  • Grain consumption to Harvest a Keep is affordable at 1000 Grain.
  • Totem chance increases
  • You can place different cards types into a Keep
  • The potential for future resource collection is enticing
  • There's only a limited number of Keeps (scarcity is good)
  • Storage Size of a Keep is amazingly huge.

@bjangles / @thepeoplesguild

I could not have entertained utilising my plots if it wasn't for a card transaction with @bjangles.

We all know the awesome podcast that is undertaken by the team, however, they are also genuine people who love Splinterlands.

He had some Untamed cards that he wanted to sell, and provided a very fair deal to help me amp up my plots quite a bit - more than double in many circumstances.

It is also the reason why I have tremendous faith in @cryptomancer in the mid-long term.

Even the older episodes of @thepeoplesguild provides an insight into the mind of our wonderful Splinterlands personalities.

Opportunity Gains / Opportunity Costs

@aggroed ruminated many times.

Ruminated Loudly!

There will not be enough of anyting, to do everything, in this game of Splinterlands.

How true his statements are! You can only pick a lane.
Sometimes a few lanes - but beggars, sometimes, can be choosers.

Rebellion looks like immense fun. The concept of Conflicts will make it even more so.

But, I chose the Keep that came onto my Radar.

So, the awesome Community provides much to admire.
If, I cannot do some of the things, then at least I can revel in the success of others.
There is much to admire. Many people to constantly make this experience so much fun.

@goldmatters and him cascade of Twitter posts.
@aftersound & his hording of vouchers.
@stever82 (who I have much to catch up on) & his diatribes of delight with @bebeomega
@bobaphet & the Splinterlands101 team...

Town Halls, Discords, PeakD, Guild chats, Lore Galore, and you sometimes need a forced time-out!

There is so much content, contemplations, considerations, and community machinations, that we are extremely fortunate to be here, at this point of time.

2 keep or not 2 keep, says our friend Jagged.

Congratulations man! Love being able to move assets around for real value - bonus when they go to friends.

I know my trusty beast of burden, Almo, will serve you well.

Just 20 more hours for my cards to become available. But, hey, who's counting?
