Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1068)
Hello Everyone!
A pretty sunset, The black walnut is working, An indoor day, A kudzu error & So few pokeweed berries!
Okay, the sun has just now set and although it was pretty to watch... I mostly scrambled around trying to get a few pictures in the failing light... so that I would not have to dig through my older pictures for one that I have not used before. Having not written anything except the day's entry number... I am probably going to be here for a while spelling out my ponderous thoughts.
The day was a wonky one because I could not quite get my mind to 'let go' and fall asleep until close to five in the morning... and then it seemed like I was right back up again before I ever got some deep rest. Somehow, I squeezed in nearly six hours of sleep but it was punctuated by intervals of waking up, craving certain foods, snacking on said foods and then falling back asleep.
Once I was actually 'up and about' for the day I felt even better than I did on the two days previous to that... so I think that the black walnut husk extract is working to some degree. There are a number of physical things that I have noticed which are 'different' and without spelling them all out... suffice it to say that I feel like I am 'on the mend' so to speak.
I took one more dose of the extract late this afternoon and this time I used six drops instead of the five that I used yesterday. Since I have a strong constitution I tend to warn folks not to do what I do but that said... I also took a single drop several days before beginning my 'experiment' and having no adverse effects I gradually eased into taking a stronger dose.
Anyways, I did not get much done today besides working on a mixtape track because I am growing weary of listening to the same music over and over ad infinitum. It was not anything special or anything and I was mainly trying to cobble some 'spooky' music together for the fall season... to listen to while I get back into the swing of working on things outdoors.
For the most part I am doing well with my new routines and doing the daily chores is not quite the drag that doing them was for a while. I dunno if my attitude about life simply improved... or if I just feel good about being capable of maintaining the new routines... but something feels much 'better' than it has in a long time.
On a different note, I think I erred when I mixed those fresh kudzu leaves in with the dried ones... because now they are all a partially damp mass that is starting to rot. Thankfully I put all those 'hitchhiker' seed plants on top of the kudzu and none of it seems to be the worse for wear. As far as those seeds go they are a big hit with the chickens and they absolutely love them... so yup I am going to have to harvest more of them while they are available.
Speaking of what is available... the pokeweed did not produce many seeds this year... which is odd given how many of them are growing in the dog yard. I did not look at every single plant... but I could only spot one that had berries on it and they are still very green. I am not even sure if they will ripen before the temperatures start to plummet over the coming weeks.
Alright, I think that I am going to keep this entry brief and get on with the editing and posting portion of my evening. I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice time.

I hate it when my mind won't let me sleep, I put the tv headphones on and let the tv block my thoughts, maybe you could do that with music.
