Adventures In Homesteading (Day 184)

Hello Everyone!

Running behind schedule again, Another chilly evening, Daydreaming of electric blankets & The scramble to get folks into adequate shelter!

Alright, I am running behind schedule the same amount of time that I did yesterday with my writing routine... and instead of continuing to fight it... I should just make it my new start time. Hopefully, in doing so I can avoid running behind schedule altogether... but more than likely it will just amount to pushing said starting time back even further.

Last night was another very chilly evening... but all around I stayed rather warm even though I once again used the propane heater much more than I want to be using it. Perhaps once I get an electric blanket I can use it to mitigate needing to use the heater so much... but I really will not know until I can acquire one.

I might even try to get two of them... so that I can attach one to the ceiling (or maybe a wall) of the tent... and use it as an 'ambient' heater. With the way that I have the tent itself, the rain fly and the polyethylene sheeting creating air gaps... the place really does conserve heat fairly well... so perhaps I can lessen my reliance on propane because that stuff is not as cheap as electric.

Anyways, I did not accomplish much today aside from doing my usual relief work for the WNC DZ... which at this point takes up pretty much all my focus all day every day. Now that the temperatures have been plummeting in that region it really has become quite the mad dash to get everyone into some kind of housing besides tents... but whoa the need is just so great (and the scenario so complex) that it is beyond challenging to say the least.

Well, this entry is just going to have to be super brief... because I am feeling rather mentally exhausted and just need to zone out some before falling asleep for the evening. I hope that everyone is doing well. Ta ta for now.
