Adventures In Homesteading (Day 179)
Hello Everyone!
A forgotten kettle, The misinformation hassle, Shuffling my food supplies around & Gah my storage scenario sucks!
Alright, I am a few minutes behind schedule with my writing routine this evening... but hopefully it is not enough to throw my posting time off. Somehow there always seems to be something that pops up at the last minute... that either ties up my time altogether... or nudges me off track a wee bit. Tonight, it was because I forgot that I had set the kettle to boiling on the outdoor stove!
Today was not necessarily a productive day at all... besides doing my usual work of helping folks inside the WNC DZ... which honestly has consumed the bulk of my time for nearly two months straight now. Of late I keep having to sort through so much misinformation... and deal with folks 'bent out of shape' feelings when I kindly ask them for evidence to back up their claims... but hey that is apparently just par for the course in this day and age.
Since the weather has yet to turn completely brutal, I went ahead and got the bulk of the food that I needed to move out of the storage tent moved into my camping tent. Thankfully, the boxes of canned goods (and pasta) all fit within one of the three dog crates that I have inside the tent... and I did not have to sacrifice any precious floor space for it all.
Over the next few days I will have to focus on getting more of my food moved into the camping tent... which I am not really looking forward to... because the bulk of it is in a big cooler that is buried under a bunch of gear in the storage tent. Between the nearby road... and my nosy neighbors... it is really hard to access that tent without 'everyone' seeing that I have stuff stored in it... so I basically need to do it all as rapidly as I can each time that I mess with stuff in there... which of course grates on my patient nature!
Well, this is going to be another short entry... and yeah I am getting tired of making them so short... and might just have to resort to posting to my blog again... so that I can scratch my writing itch better! I hope that everyone is doing well. Ta ta for now.
