Is it OK for Christians to celebrate Christmas?
It is 2 days to go before Christmas,
Today, I came across some YouTube videos debating whether Christmas originated from pagan celebrations and whether Christians should celebrate Christmas.
Many readers will probably hate me for this post, but it's OK I cannot please everybody with my opinion. Many of you who are not Christians will also ignore this for the fact that you don't care.
I'm neither a fan nor an opponent of Christmas, and while I don't celebrate it now ( I use to celebrate it when I was a kid), I don't judge those who do as long as the real meaning is there.
Here is my opinion about this Christmas
First, I don't think that it originated from a pagan festival; I think what happened is that Christmas was made to abolish a pagan festival that was being celebrated at the time.
For me, it's a good thing, it's like telling people at that time to stop this pagan festival and instead let us celebrate this day to remember our God, Jesus Christ.
2nd thing is I don't see any Pagan Thoughts in celebrating Christmas.
I'm confused as to why we're concerned about the date of Christmas. No one is doing pagan rituals during Christmas, and no one celebrating Christmas is worshipping any pagan idols on this day.
(unless you're parading idols and celebrating Santa Claus instead of Jesus Christ)
Have you ever met someone who celebrates Saturnalia during the Christmas season?
I also think that no one will know when Jesus was born. Although I think we should be celebrating the birth of Jesus every day because He was a blessing to us, aren't we too focused on the small details?
Now, even if this date was originally a pagan festival, aren't we happy that, because of Jesus, we have abolished that date and converted many pagan people to Christianity?
Because if we are always associating things with paganism, shouldn't we use other names for days and months?
These names are also derived from Greek gods. let's just use numbers. Should we also ban the use of names that are derived from Greek Gods?
Bottom line -It's not the day that is being celebrated that I oppose, what I don't like is how other people are celebrating Christmas.
Christmas is not about Santa Claus and extravagant Christmas Trees, it is not about us receiving gifts and love; It is not about buying new clothes to wear or having many foods on your table, it is about Jesus. You have your own birthday; don't take this away from him.
and remember, the story of Christmas is also about humility, it is not about extravagance.

Although I admit it's hard not to give presents because Christmas is also associated with giving, presents are not the only thing we can share on Christmas, we can also share love and care.
I think you all understand my point. May we never forget the reason we celebrate Christmas—the birth of our Savior.
