We are almost Extinct is usually used when something is going to end soon, but the human population is increasing at a rapid pace, so can't say a thing about the human population, but yes I can say it for Humanity. Yes, Humanity from humans are getting extinct, we are almost extinct when humanity is concerned.

There are very less people left in this world who cares for others.
