My First Paid Ski Lesson and Second Ski Fall in Saint Nicolas de Veroce
Hi, Hive friends! I shared in a previous article about our sledding experience in Les Contamines-Montjoie, where we also got our ski rental. The next day, my husband brought me back to Nicolas de Veroce Ski Resort to take my first paid ski lesson. Here is my entry for the #winterchallenge.
From the first year (2022), I always practice alone on the beginner slope without any real ski lessons. I've shared this photo from an article I made but sharing it here for the sequence of the story. Haha!
My husband said I needed to do my first ski lesson from a teacher. I was nervous that I might not be a good student. The sky was gray so the photos seemed dark.
A Day of Ski Lesson without the Kids
The kids were left with the grandparents in the apartment, so we took the ski lift chair. Usually, when we have the kids with us, we go straight to the ski resort's parking lot. You can see that there was not much snow when we arrived.
The view of Mont Blanc from the ski lift.
My nervous smile. I joked that we had 8 hours of no kids just the two of us. It's a Ski Date for the husband and wife. XD
Ski Lesson Video
I found out that my husband had an actual video of my first ski lesson so it's good to share the video here. He was a spy. LOL. Since he is an expert skier, he just passed by Saint Nicolas de Veroce to watch me and go to different ski resorts using his unlimited forfait or unlimited mountain pass in various ski resorts of Saint Gervais-les-Bains.
It's time to Level Up
I started skiing on the beginner slope (green) but my ski instructor told me that it was time to transfer to the intermediate slope (red). I just had my accident on this slope in 2022. Hahaha!
You can see the high slope here. My anxiety was on a high rocket but I needed to relax. My instructor told me to relax. My husband saw me again with the instructor and was able to chit-chat with him before we ended the lesson. We had two runs of skiing here with the instructor.
When the instructor left, my husband and I stayed here for a while to do another ski run. He told me that we should go down to Les Chattrix ski station.
From Saint Nicolas de Veroce going down to Les Chattrix ski lift
Going down to Les Chattrix station is dangerous for me. My mother-in-law said she hates this slope as this is not for beginners. My MIL used to ski when she was younger but only for fun. She tried to ski going down but retracted. Even my husband's female cousin told me that she never liked this area to ski. Only the male skiers and the daredevils would love to ski.
So, I tried. Geez, I was too brave for my Asian blood. Hahaha!
After I fell as shown in the video, I was really tired. I stopped to ski. I went down to slide using my butt. My knees were shaking.
I was able to ski down to the end of Les Chattrix ski lift station. Seriously, I was scared. My husband went up alone and I told him I just wait for him in this area.
Photos of Les Chattrix
Every time my husband drops me off at my playground, Les Chattrix is his other playground. He always has his rounds of skiing here, go down, go up, and transfer to another ski resort.

My husband showed me all these photos to be mentally and physically prepared for the next days of skiing. Hahaha!
Les Chattrix, what to see and to expect in the next few days. Good luck to me!
Saint Nicolas de Veroce - the red slope
Here is another day of practice in Saint Nicolas de Veroce. After several hours of practice in the morning, I asked my husband to take videos of me. I was more confident than the previous day, and I was all smiles.
Alexandre took his basic ski lesson from his father
While I continued my practice, the kids and the grandparents arrived in the afternoon. Elise didn't like to ski but only Alexandre was interested.
My husband got a video but I will share it later. I am sharing some cute photos of Alexandre and Filou with you.
What we see in Saint Nicolas de Veroce
I will always take photos of Saint Nicolas de Veroce whenever we visit. Here is the church.
The rental cabins we see around.
I will end this blog with a view of Mont Blanc.
Of course, love to take many photos.
It was tiring but fun. I am so lucky to see Mont Blanc.
Did you enjoy the fall of my ski failures? Hahaha! Don't forget to upvote.
