Eating Chocolate Ice Cream at 10 Dove Street Gelato Confectionery in Cebu, Philippines

Hi, Ice Cream Creations community! It is my first time to post here and found some ice cream photos on my hard drive. So, let me share with you two photos. Sorry, I only had two photos because I was always excited to eat my ice cream right away. I don't like eating melted ice cream.

10 Dove Street Confectionery is located at Oakridge Business Park.

Their address: Oakridge Business Park, 880 A. S. Fortuna St, Mandaue City, 6014 Cebu, Philippines

During this time, I was processing my Japan visa where I submitted my documents to a travel agency within the vicinity. l

I was also pregnant at this time and I was craving ice cream.

Chocolate ice cream has been my favorite since I was a child.

They also have cakes and pastries but eating cakes would be too much for me. Haha!

When I went inside, it was about snack time. There were a few people inside, but I managed to share a table with some people. In the background, you could see the cakes.

I forgot how much was it but it was pricey. As a pregnant woman, I was willing to spend more for an ice cream.

The place was well-air-conditioned. I wasn't able to take photos of the place as it was small. Hmm, I don't remember what the place looked like. It must be the pregnancy brain fog.

It was my first time to be there but I remember it became a popular place among Cebuanos. I was away in Cebu for two years so I wasn't familiar but it was far away from my hometown, as well. It was perfect timing to check out the place during my Japan visa application. Not bad.

Anyway, I am not sure how can I come up with 500 words. Hahaha! I might just create some fun facts about me and the ice cream.

We can only eat ice cream during birthdays

My parents were not rich. The only time we could eat ice cream was when a family member would celebrate his/her birthday.

My father used to buy 1 Liter of Ice Cream, flavors may vary per ranking.

  • Chocolate is always the number one favorite
  • Vanilla is the second favorite
  • Mango was my grandmother's favorite and it became my fave, too.
  • Buko Salad, Philippine-inspired ice cream flavor
  • Ube flavor, only in the Philippines ice cream flavor

The three ice cream brands I only knew when I was a kid were:

  • Magnolia
  • Nestle
  • Selecta

We never had our own fridge or refrigerator at home so we only asked a relative neighbor to store our bucket of ice cream for us.

Here in France, I can eat ice cream almost every day

When I arrived here in France during the time I was pregnant, I could eat ice cream almost every day since my husband bought two flavors of ice cream and stock it in their fridge. The flavors are chocolate and vanilla.

So, it really made me reminisce about how my life was different back then in the Philippines. Eating ice cream on birthdays but eating ice cream almost every day here in France.

Eating ice cream is a luxury in the Philippines. I never ate a lot because I didn't want to waste so much money. But here in France, I gained a lot of weight because of eating a lot of ice cream. Uh oh!

My, that ice cream looks creamy and chocolatey. Actually I prefer a dirty ice cream talaga ee. Some used coconut milk on their ice cream kaya I find it more flavorful. Anyways, Naalala ko lang yong ice cream magnolia ba yun or selecta na yong ang ganda ng tunog kada ilalako nila. Naalala mo yun? Jaja

Nothing stopping a pregnant woman from her chocolate ice cream not price nor letting it melt away. Nothing else mattered except for savoring it, right 🤣

It's too bad things were different in the Philippines growing up in regards to enjoying ice cream often. At least in your current situation it can happen whenever :)

Thanks for posting here and a have cold creamy day 🍨🍦

I know, if we could not afford the expensive branded ice creams, we have the option to buy dirty ice cream or ice cream on the road mix with coconut milk.
