A Relaxing Day by Lake Geneva and Chillon Castle | 莱曼湖畔&希永城堡

Aside from Geneva, which I featured in my previous post, Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) is surrounded by many picturesque towns, such as Lausanne, Vevey, and Montreux. Chillon Castle (Château de Chillon), located in the municipality of Veytaux near Montreux, is one of the most well-known landmarks on Lake Geneva.

In this post, I'll show you some breathtaking views of the castle, the lake, and the surrounding mountains. Chillon Castle is renowned for its impressive architecture and scenic setting on a lakeside rock platform. It is a strategically built medieval fortress with a long history. The castle was originally constructed to protect trade routes through the Alps, but it has also served as a military site, a prison, and a residence and toll station for the Savoy family over the centuries.

On that beautiful sunny day in early autumn, we went to the castle, strolled along the lakeshore, dipped into the crystal clear water, skipped stones, played with dogs, watched people fishing, picnicking and doing photoshoots, looked at the steamboats departing and arriving, had food and drinks in the café Byron... it was a truly relaxing day, blessed by all the spectacular vistas.

除了日内瓦这个大城市，日内瓦湖(法语称为莱曼湖)畔还有许多风景如画的小城镇，包括洛桑、沃韦和蒙特勒等。希永城堡就在蒙特勒附近，是日内瓦湖上最著名的地标建筑之一。

上一篇寒冬里的日内瓦看着比较惨淡冻人，而希永城堡我是初秋时节去的，正是风和日丽的好天气，周边的湖光山色美丽动人，今天就来分享一下。

这座中世纪堡垒位于湖边的石台上，最初是为了保护穿越阿尔卑斯山的贸易商贩而建造的。后来也用作军事堡垒、监狱和萨沃伊家族的豪宅兼收费站等。

16世纪宗教战争期间，弗朗索瓦·博尼瓦尔曾被囚禁在此，后来英国大诗人拜伦以此为题材，写了长诗《希永的囚徒》，广为传颂，也给城堡带来了名气。拜伦也在日内瓦湖畔居住过，附近还有间以他命名的咖啡馆，里面的咖啡和点心都很不错。
