The Chessboard of Wealth: Revealing the Four Levels of Why Money Matters

avatar

I've had this book for the last 3 months and I haven't found the time to start reading it. Every time I want to do it, something comes up and I dump it without thinking twice. But this evening, the moment I finally finished the series, Queen of the South, I thought of how Theresa Mendoza made it out of a game, that the final verdict is always either a dead sentence or disappearance, alive. And I started comparing all of her moves to that of a grandmaster playing on a chess board.

The moment the idea of a chess board came to my head, I remembered I still have a book in which the author had promised me five moves that looks more like that of a grandmaster. I worked up to my pile of books and picked up the freshly looking book and opened it.

The universe is likely trying to send me a message because the page that opened brought everything that I have learned about the essence of money from Theresa Mendoza to me. You know Miss Mendoza mentioned one new word around having money that I have never thought of.

I always thought freedom was the highest level in the game of wealth but a few days ago, I found out there's a bigger role that money plays in our lives. When we cut out the influence and the familiar world, freedom, the highest is Safety.

You see, in the cartel business, it's kill or be killed and in such a lifestyle, the word freedom doesn't have a seat at the table. Therefore, asking for the money you make to help you attain freedom is asking for the impossible. This is because the people in that business would love to have you roast at the fire that's basking with self-interests.

So, safety wasn't only new to me but it made a lot of sense. And Theresa was able to move the pieces on the chess board until she got the safety that she desired for herself and the few loved ones that she had left after everything she had worked for. This movie had made me write up to 5 posts already around it. And the more I think of it, the more angle I can present a point and work my way around convincing you that money does bring everything they say it does if you play your cards well.

Yes, it will bring both positive and negative energies but learning to move the pieces on the board is your best chance at arriving at your destination.

Speaking of destinations, I almost forgot we are talking about the page of my book that the universe opened up for me tonight to bring all of the lessons I got from Theresa to a bundle.

What I found on that page says, "Four Levels of Why". Patrick Bet-David explains that there are levels to the reasons we should desire to make money. And that a lot of people get to one level and stop there. I have already told you that if I did not see Queen of the South I wouldn't have understood this page better. I would probably brush it off thinking I understood it.

But I watched Theresa Mendoza answer the question, "We have everything that we need why do you still need the waterfront?" and she mentioned the word, Safety which this page agrees to.

The four levels of why we make money are obvious. Some people do it for Survival, which is where Mendoza started and that's the first level. The second level is Status. This is the level some of us are at, we love the feeling of being able to send our kids to the best schools. And buy any adult toys that we want whether it's a car or a beach house or a private jet. Theresa did reach the point too.

The next level is Freedom which we all already know because we think of this word every day and financial experts shove it down our throats every day of our lives. We want to be able to wake up and decide to do whatever we want without worrying about running out of money to pay bills, run parties, travel the world, etc. Again, Theresa Mendoza reached this point.

And for some people that would be enough; Patrick Bet-David did say, people do stop here but it's selfishness and soon you will start feeling some sort of gap or reaching for meaning and you might not find it in your pile of cash or influx of adult toys.

Theresa got to this point but she still wasn't happy enough to stop there. She was still sleeping with her eyes open and her ears alert. This brings us to the last part, Purpose. Theresa might have called hers, Safety. And she was right because the people who survived with her , found a second chance at life, to do it all over again, and live more purposeful lives. Like Pote would be able to open that restaurant he had always wanted and serve the neighborhood with good dishes and recipes.

A purpose that's birthed from a place of Safety is the level that we all should want to attain when we are making money.

The purpose could be anything from the drive to make history, help others, change, impact, and finally reach self-actualization. All of these are the levels that we should center the reasons we are waking up each morning to chase the bag and we shouldn't forget our whys.

(Edited)

This post was an eye opener for me, up until now my ultimate goal was to get enough money to be free, freedom. But now I realize that there is another stage after that.

Oh well let me get to the freedom stage first, and then I can bother about what comes next.
Have a good night dear
