Garden Journal: Rising Production Cost

Next year is a year that may not be awaited by the +62 people. This is due to the value added tax which will increase by 1% on January 1, 2025. The problem is that it will have a big impact on society and increase the purchase price of goods, a butterfly effect occurs.

Will it have an impact on agriculture? Of course! Many seeds are produced by a number of companies, not only that, fertilizers and other things related to agriculture will also have a big impact. Food prices will certainly increase, because the production price from upstream is already high. So, don't say that value added tax doesn't have any impact on life.

This new era I will try hard to make everything simpler and not spend a lot of money, especially in production costs. Moreover, hydroponics has become very popular lately because of the large public sentiment. Hydroponic vegetables do have a sexy appearance, especially making it easier for people to wash vegetables. Compared to vegetables grown in the soil, hydroponic vegetables are quite easy to serve.

I don't know what to do right now, at least I can supply vegetables for my house or people who live around here more cheaply. Vegetable needs are the main staple, unfortunately, things like this can threaten vegetable farmers who want to sell their vegetables because the production costs are not covered properly.

For example, this lettuce, in the market the price can reach 2-3 dollars for a kilo of vegetables. You can imagine that lettuce alone is very expensive when compared to people's income. Of course, that will make people think about living properly. In fact, even though the price is cheap, many people lack fiber because they cannot meet it, especially if the price continues to rise but income does not increase as aggressively as spending.

Of course this is a problem that is quite difficult to solve, especially the impact is very massive on some poor people. Sad, but that's what will happen if this provision is really enforced in early 2025.

It seems that I will plant more in a wider area to get cheaper production costs, at least it can help people around my house to get cheap and quality vegetables. So that's a pretty big note, considering everything will be much harder later.

By the way, right now in my city it's the rainy season. A season that makes it a little difficult for a hydroponic farmer to plant. The reason is the absence of sun which is the main source of hydroponic vegetables to grow. The sun is being shy or is indeed being covered by many dark clouds.

So, there are almost no other vegetables planted right now except for the rest of the pak choi planted early last month, then there's the lettuce that has started to grow but not too aggressively. But at least there's not one particular pest and disease in this batch that doesn't make it too difficult for me.

Anyway, I've also started fertilizing one of the mango seedlings in the corner of the garden, it's been almost 2 years and is only this big. So I added fertilizer so that it can grow up easily. How about your garden?
