Condition of Vegetables in My Hydroponic Garden Early March 2023
Hello Gardeners
How are you today ? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. We know together, life is all about tests and every day there are always problems that we have to face. We just need to keep fighting and smiling to get through it. One of my ways to get away from the fatigue of this life is by gardening.
Every week, I always try to participate and contribute to the Hive Garden Community. I often share stories about my experiences in my hydroponic garden. What activities did I do this week? continue to see my story this time.
Condition of Pakcoy in My Hydroponic Garden
If friends pay attention to the condition of the hydroponic garden that I uploaded, you can see that there are lots of empty hydroponic media. That's right, during this week I have harvested almost all the vegetables, especially the pakcoy in my hydroponic garden. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of the harvest this time, because we harvested at six in the morning and immediately sent them to the vegetable shop.
I got about 10 kilograms of pakcoy in the last planting period. I sell each kilogram of pakcoy for around IDR 20k (or 1.3 USD). The Pakcoy that I harvested in this period grew very well and had a greenish color. I plan to plant pakcoy again using almost the same method.
I didn't harvest all of the pakcoy that I planted, I also left about 200 pots of pakcoy for our own family consumption. Usually, every period of the vegetable harvest we sort vegetables that have a smaller size and let the vegetables grow again in the planting medium as they are now.
Caisim Conditions in My Hydroponic Garden
Next, I invite you to look at the conditions of the sweet mustard or caisim that I plant in my hydroponic garden. Sweet mustard or caisim is one of the green vegetables that is often found and consumed by Asian people, especially Southeast Asia and East Asia. Caisim has a crunchy and delicious taste. This vegetable is very suitable to be combined and cooked together with noodles. Because of that, caisim is one of my favorite vegetables.
I grow about 80 caisim pots in my hydroponic garden. The caisim that I planted in my hydroponic garden grew well and optimally. Almost all caisim in my hydroponic media grow uniformly and have no problems, such as being attacked by caterpillars or rats. During this planting period, I used a hydroponic liquid fertilizer solution with a concentration of 1000-1100 ppm. Looks like, next week I can harvest these vegetables.
Conditions of Lettuce in My Hydroponic Garden
Lettuce is one of the vegetables that I consistently grow in my hydroponic garden. I planted about 310 lettuce pots, with details of 250 lettuce pots in Styrofoam hydroponic media that I planted on the second floor balcony of my house and 50 lettuce pots in a PVC hydroponic installation (wall hydroponics).
The condition of the lettuce on the balcony of my house grows very well and optimally. I see the growth of these vegetables is very uniform and the green color is also very pretty. Since last month, I have planted lettuce with several different growing ages to get periodic and consistent yields.
On the balcony of my house, there are three lettuces with one week different planting periods. So, if you see this non-uniform growth, it is due to the difference in the age of planting, not the difference in the quality of growth.
Apart from the balcony of my house, I also planted 50 pots of lettuce in a hydroponic installation on the wall of my house. The growth of the lettuce that I planted in this medium was not optimal. The growth of the lettuce is indeed uniform, but the limited sunlight makes this lettuce not produce as good growth as the lettuce I planted on the balcony of my house. But I think it doesn't matter, because the lettuce in this PVC hydroponic media will be consumed by itself.
Spinach Conditions in My Hydroponic Garden
Next, I invite you to see the spinach that I grow in my hydroponic garden. To be honest, the spinach that I planted with hydroponic media has not shown good and optimal growth. If friends compare, last week's and present photos, it can be seen that there is no significant growth from these vegetables.
I'm trying to do additional treatment to this spinach. I try to spray liquid fertilizer regularly every evening on the leaves. I want to see and compare the growth of this spinach in the next week.
Mint Leaves Condition in My Hydroponic Garden
During this one week, I also did a special treatment for the mint leaves that I planted in my hydroponic garden. I don't do any harvesting and focus on taking care of the mint leaves. I am not selling my mint leaves, because I want to rejuvenate and make my mint leaves more lush.
As a result, the mint leaves that I specially cared for grew very well and optimally. I do regular spraying with liquid fertilizer, and replace mint leaves that are not optimal. I feel, if next week I can take orders for this mint again.
Vegetable Nursery Preparation
As I said at the beginning of this post, a lot of my hydroponic media is empty because I have harvested the vegetables. Because of that, I seeded some vegetables such as spinach, pakcoy, lettuce, and caisim. This seeding process is very important and crucial for gardening activities.
Sowing the right vegetable seeds will produce good and optimal vegetable growth. Therefore, when we start farming and gardening activities, the first thing we have to master is how to sow well. Sowing seeds is indeed a hassle, but believe that if you start something well and optimally, it will produce good results too.

Tanamanmu terlihat sehat dan sehat. Sayangnya aku gak ada waktu ke rumahmu.
Hello @sobatkelana thank you for stopping
I'm waiting for you to visit my house again.
It's amazing how all your plants in the hydroponic garden look so healthy! You are doing a great job! I hope I will manage to create a small hydroponic garden myself when I find space to do it... I know it's not that demanding, but living in a small flat has its limits... :(
I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!
hello @ph1102 thank you for stopping by
I am very happy to receive this appreciation, I try to do my best and wholeheartedly to get good growth results. I think, that's the most twist.
I am waiting and will support you to grow hydroponics in flats. I think, just start small and simple.
Woah, lots of lettuce. Imagine you have hundreds of lettuce pots. It's not easy to do that.
hello @missleray thank you for stopping by
It's not easy, but if you do it it will be done. One important thing, do it happily.
You're welcome. ☺️
