Batik Exhibition at the Sonobudoyo Museum, Yogyakarta.

Hello everyone, Welcome.
The right time for us to meet again in a thread. Where I will tell you a lot about a little journey that might be interesting to discuss. Still on a journey when I tripped to Java Island last July. The story starts here.

Sonobudoyo Museum, Yogyakarta. This museum is truly an important place for you to find out about the history of Yogyakarta in more details. The most central place in the city of Yogyakarta, cause it is in the middle of the city, even in front of the house of the most important person in the Province of Yogyakarta, Kedhaton Yogyakarta.

I find some interesting about the story of the origin of batik, because it seems that this city has the nickname 'World Batik City' on a sign in one corner of the city of Yogyakarta. Interestingly, this is something bigger than the name itself. A pride from this small city, which is world-famous with its Batik.

Batik is a creative work in the world of design that makes Indonesia's name fragrant. Yes, we have batik, a cloth that has beauty and charisma. This is where batik began, in this city. Since long ago, batik has been a fairly sacred cloth, even until now. If you have never known about batik, I will explain it a little.

Batik cloth is indeed just a cloth, but what is unique about batik is the hand carving of someone who makes a cloth have color and carving. Batik also has many types, depending on the needs and what moment the batik is worn. Often the most important thing in a Javanese traditional event, batik becomes a luxury with its beauty.

In this museum, there is a lot of information about batik and also different batik collections. The types of batik are explained in a separate room, where you can see the beauty of batik without touching it. Because there are so many types of batik, there will be a lot of curiosity about the batik and why it is so expensive with different strata and motifs.

In addition to batik cloth, there are also some of them such as stamps that are used to make batik. Usually, there are some batiks that are made using stamps, without having to use hands. That is why the price of stamped batik is cheaper than those made by hand, because it does pay for the labor and expertise of the batik craftsmen.

In the museum, there are also many explanations about batik craftsmen and the types of batik from the shapes and carvings on the cloth. The batik cloth is also made based on the hopes and ways in which the craftsmen can depict the story between the carvings on the batik cloth.

As an Indonesian, I also just found out that batik alone has a lot of information and a window of knowledge about Indonesia's wealth. Not only from natural wealth, we have a lot of cultural wealth, from all the multi-ethnicities that live in Indonesia.

Thank you, bro, for introducing the types of batik. I only know how to wear batik clothes, but I don't know the types of batik. Hopefully one day I can go to Yogyakarta too.
