Central Park Towers

I continue walking through this magical world of urban photography, I continue walking the streets of Caracas to show you the details and beauties of a city that is truly unique, tremendously interesting and with an architecture that is incredible, where contrasts, modernity and classic mix to generate bold and very special environments. I believe that every city in the world, regardless of its size, has in its interior some structure of iconic character, an emblem that identifies its inhabitants, makes them shine outside their borders and makes everyone proud.

Las Torres de Parque Central

Continúo caminando a través de este mágico mundo de la fotografía urbana, sigo recorriendo las calles de Caracas para mostrarles los detalles y bellezas de una ciudad que es realmente única, tremendamente interesante y con una arquitectura que es increíble, en donde los contrastes, la modernidad y lo clásico se mezclan para generar entornos atrevidos y muy especiales. Creo que todas las ciudades del mundo sin importar su tamaño tienen en su interior alguna estructura de carácter icónico, un emblema que identifica sus habitantes, las hace brillar fuera de sus fronteras y enorgullece a todos.

The city of Caracas in its condition of republican capital is an urban environment of the highest importance, in addition we must point out that Venezuela is a country that is constituted around a presidential political model, where most of the state institutions are concentrated in its capital, therefore, it is logical to think that it is right in this urban agglomeration we can find the most important architectural examples of a complete nation, it is also a city that has multiple icons, many faces and an infinity of spaces that are recognized nationally and internationally.

La ciudad de Caracas en su condición de capital republicana es un entorno urbano de altísima importancia, además debemos señalar que Venezuela es un país que se constituye en torno a un modelo político presidencialista, en donde la mayoría de las instituciones del estado se concentran en su capital, por lo cual, es lógico pensar que es justo en esta aglomeración urbana podemos encontrar los ejemplos arquitectónicos más importantes de una nación completa, además es una ciudad que posee múltiples iconos, muchas caras y una infinidad de espacios que son reconocidos a nivel nacional e internacional.

But of all the spaces that may exist, the East and West towers of the Parque Central urban complex are those figures that stand out from any perspective, since they are two skyscrapers that since the end of the last century hold the title of being the tallest buildings in the city and currently the tallest in the country to be in operation. With its 225 m high in the West Tower and 255 m (counting the needle) in the East Tower, these titans of brutalist style made of concrete and glass manage to break with the skyline of Caracas.

Are easy to observe from multiple points of the city, also constitute the undisputed reference of a city that has always looked towards modernity and architectural development, for years these skyscrapers have been photographed, admired and enjoyed by the whole world, But the truth is that its geographical location is quite complex, until this year there was no square, an esplanade or a place from which to capture its immensity and beauty, but earlier this month is inaugurated in the area the Plaza de la Juventud, a perfectly flat place, from where the towers have an incredible visual, is an ideal place to enjoy one of the most important and beautiful icons of the city, for that reason I did not hesitate for a second to approach there and make these captures.

Pero de tantos espacios que puedan existir las torres Este y Oeste del Complejo urbanístico Parque Central son esas figuras que sobresalen desde cualquier perspectiva, ya que se trata de dos rascacielos que desde finales del siglo pasado ostentan el título de ser los edificios más altos de la ciudad y actualmente los más altos del país en estar en funcionamiento. Con sus 225 m de altura en la Torre Oeste y 255 m(contando la aguja) en la Torre Este, estos titanes de estilo brutalista elaborados en concreto y cristal logran romper con el horizonte caraqueño.

Son fáciles de observar desde múltiples puntos de la ciudad, además constituyen la referencia indiscutible de una ciudad que siempre ha mirado hacia la modernidad y el desarrollo arquitectónico, durante años estos rascacielos han sido fotografiados, admirados y disfrutados por el mundo entero, pero la verdad es que su ubicación geográfica es bastante compleja, hasta este año no existía una plazoleta, una explanada o un lugar desde donde poder capturar su Inmensidad y belleza, pero a principios de este mes es inaugurada en la zona la Plaza de la Juventud, un lugar perfectamente plano, desde donde las torres tienen una visual increíble, es un espacio ideal para disfrutar de uno de los iconos más importantes y bellos de la ciudad, por esa razón que no dude ni un segundo en acercarme hasta allí y realizar estas capturas.

Over the years these towers have gone through different vicissitudes, but the event that would mark a before and after in the structural history of this complex would take place on October 17, 2004, when in the early hours of the morning a fierce fire that would last more than 15 hours, razing everything in its path from the 34th floor to the 56th level, leaving for history Dantesque and painful images, but fortunately the structural design of the tower is extraordinary and all the construction work was perfect, which would provide the necessary support for Caracas to continue enjoying its skyscrapers for many more years, that without changing forever its facade and since then what at first were twin towers today are simply sister buildings.

A lo largo de los años estas torres han atravesado diferentes vicisitudes, pero el evento que marcaría un antes y un después en la historia estructural de este complejo se daría un 17 de octubre del año 2004, cuando en horas de la madrugada se desataría un feroz incendio que duraría más de 15 horas, arrasando todo a su paso desde el piso 34 hasta el nivel 56, dejando para la historia imágenes dantescas y dolorosas, en donde toda Caracas observaba con impotencia como uno de sus edificios más altos corría el riesgo de colapsar, pero afortunadamente el diseño estructural de la torre es extraordinario y todo el trabajo constructivo fue perfecto, lo cual brindaría el soporte necesario para que Caracas continuara disfrutando de sus rascacielos por muchos años más, eso sin antes cambiar para siempre su fachada y desde entonces lo que en un inicio fueron torres gemelas hoy en día son simplemente edificios hermanos.

The history of the Parque Central Towers has parallels with the history of Caracas, since it is a complex that was born for greatness, but throughout its history has gone through numerous difficulties, many setbacks and situations that tested its integrity, but today they remain firm, beautiful and radiant, showing the world that they are the Caracas icon of which all of us born in this city feel tremendously proud.

La historia de las Torres de Parque Central tiene paralelismos con la historia caraqueña, puesto que se trata de un complejo que nació para la grandeza, pero que a lo largo de su historia ha atravesado numerosas dificultades, muchos contratiempos y situaciones que pusieron a prueba su integridad, pero hoy en día siguen firmes, bellas y radiantes, demostrándole al mundo que son ese icono caraqueño del cual todos los nacidos en esta ciudad nos sentimos tremendamente orgullosos.
