What I realized after my "First Earning".
Hello everyone!!
I am so delighted to participate in this contest about "First earning".
Right from time Money has always been a source of exchange and we all grew up to meet this way of life were before you get something you have to give something or do something. Some Kids value this money to a point where if they are crying and in that process given money they will stop crying, that is how money seem to work on some kids. While some grown up children don't value the little money given to them by their parents because they feel it comes so easy.
When it has to do with my "First Earning" it is about the first money I made.
The first time I made money on my own was when I was in highschool, the school I went to was a public school and was not close to my community. Since the school was not in my community or close, my parents rented an apartment for me to stay in the community where the school was located.
This period I had the freedom to do anything without the notice of my parents though I had a guardian but that did not restrict me. Coming to stay in that community a neighbor of mine wanted someone to stake her farm and she asked me if I can? I said yes but this came with a condition that I will be the one to cut this staking sticks in the forest and take it to where her farm is, I thought over how stressful it is going to be but later accepted and told her I will only do that when I'm back from school. I had to ask those who do it how they charge for like 100 staking stick and the told me N1500 around $3.6 now.
When we discussed on the pay, I told her it was going to be through the number of staking stikes and since I was the one to take it to the farm and stake, that it will be a different amount. She accepted the charges I told her which was N5k for everything since the farm wasn't really big and I assumed it won't reach 100 staking sticks.
I started cutting and staking the next day I came back from school and was able to finish it within three days, though the experience wasn't easy I just had to complete this because I already started something. My parents always gave me money and made provision for my need but I just wanted to experience that feeling of making money for myself.
After I got paid, I got this money to the house and thought of what to buy, I now check all my books including the textbooks were complete, my parents already bought me all that. The only option I had left was to buy a jersey, short and sport shoes to use and play football all in that money.
I was able to get them, I started using them during games for football. Though the money made me to feel so independent but I said to myself I won't do it again because of how those three days were, I was always tired when I got home and couldn't read my books, I was just sleeping all night that period.
Then I noticed how it's for students who work so hard just to pay school fees and feed, I saw that it's not their fault when their performance in examination is not encouraging.
This my "first earning" made me to appreciate every single money given to me by my parents through spending more time to read knowing that it is not easy to make Money.
Thank you!!!!
