I broke my lawnmower. I was pulling on the starter cord and several of the rivets came loose. Instead of repairing them, I continued using the lawnmower until the "wings" of the starter broke off. This means I cannot start the mower, until either I replace or repair the starter pully.

The device that broke is the one that you pull to get the lawnmower started.

There are two "wings" that fling out when pulling the cord that grip the mechanism to make it spin, starting the engine.

It was surprisingly difficult to get these "wings" back into their proper position. After some effort, I managed to repair them.

Once the wings were back in place, I had to reconnect the entire mechanism to the mower. This requires some riveting!

Using this tool, I can make a firm connection between the two parts to ensure it doesn't get loose again.

I had to disconnect some other parts to gain a clear location for the riveter.

After refilling with oil and adding gasoline, it started up without a problem.

I proceeded to mow the very over grown lawn and it looks so much better.

I figured either I would have to get the lawnmower professionally repaired, or purchase a new one... but no. It may have taken me the majority of a Sunday afternoon, but I managed to repair the lawnmower myself!
