Could Nigerians survive the new phase of climate change

There's a big concern especially in the middle belt over climate change which mostly affected Benue state and few states in the middle belt of Nigeria as reduced the availability of natural resources due to sudden conflict that broke out between communities in Benue State which led to over half a of million people internally displaced. This became a major concern during World Leaders Conference at COP29 summit. Certainly, it became notable that, the level of climate change contribute to the silent conflict in the Middle Belt of the country which became a physical leading to the killing and destruction of thousands lives and uncountable resources.

The number of displacing persons became more significant in 2021 when some of the communities was invaded and people was forced out of their farmlands and homes, the Benue central camp for internally displaced people has over 3,790 registered residents with many other camps dotted around Benue State. Meanwhile, the frequent clashes between two or more communities has contributed to the great number of lost of lives and properties in the Nigeria, this could be as result of land dragging for community interest, the middle belt region suffer most of this crisis with an estimated of half a million being displaced in Benue state alone. Therefore, the climate change has disrupts traditional livelihoods greatly by bringing an intensifies competition for dwindling supplies of water and productive land.

Therefore, an extreme weather results in floods and drought enforcing thousands to leave the lands, homes and businesses. A research also shows that about 90 million forcibly displaced people in many countries live with high-to-extreme exposure to climate-related hazards that means that there is a great connection between conflict with an adverse effects on climate change resulting in forcibly internally displaced with adverse effect on economic of the nation. The truth is that, most economic areas are left isolated, people are rather running for their lives leading to overcrowding and overpopulation on the receiving region causing inflation. Meanwhile, the future is not certain if deliberate actions and decision are not made to tackle it before it became difficult to control. It requires both government and citizens efforts to ensuring that peace is embraced at all costs to avoid further damages. Thank you for visiting my blog

Esto es terrible! Espero que algún día los humanos puedan vivir en paz entre sí y con la naturaleza antes de que sea demasiado tarde.
