Hello, my friends, how are you? I hope you are having a great day. Thank you very much for the comments on my last post about the archaeological museum. Today I will share with you another museum I visited in Izmir. Ephesus Museum was an interesting place among the museums I visited and you will find out why 🙂

This is the entrance of the museum and if you check my posts, I always start my museum posts with the entrance of the museum, but I will tell you a secret about this. I don't always take these photos when I go inside, most of the time I take them after I come out. Because I am impatient for what I will see when I go inside. Do you do the same thing? Or do you always take a photo of the building when you go inside?

Most of these statues are of gods and they are very different from the classical statues. Especially in the first two statues in the first photo, there are not only human legs, there are other things. I don't know exactly what these are. When you look at the other sculptures, they are even more detailed than the ones I have already praised you for their detail. There are skirt details, dress details, abdominal muscles and many other details. You noticed that, right?

One of my favorite things there was the design of the museum. The sculptures were beautifully placed in the rooms and you could see something everywhere. These sculptures are some of them. Especially the statue of the commander's head looks great. He is probably depicted with a flashy helmet. It is a pity that it was not found intact during the excavations.

The must-have statues in a museum are the statues of Aphrodite and Zeus. I can't imagine any museum without them. All the museums I have been to so far have them. These look very cool and detailed. The Roman period is the golden age of sculpture as far as I have seen so far. These sculptures also belong to that period.

Another room with interesting sculptures. A statue of a person lying down is not something you see very often, but you can see a few here. Most of the sculptures here are not whole, but even the pieces look impressive. Look at the leg in the 3rd photo. Even the toes and nails are detailed. Stunning!

This museum never runs out of things that are different from the others. Have you ever seen a vine stump sculpture before? These logs from the Roman Imperial period look perfect. The carvings on the log are so detailed that you can notice everything. In the second photo there is a statue of a dog. Perhaps he was the guardian of a city. Or a tomb, who knows? They are definitely not ordinary sculptures and it makes me very happy that even though I visit so many museums, I still see different things. Would you like to see some of the statues in the photos up close?

You didn't expect to see the reclining Satyr statue, did you? I can say it is my personal choice. I wonder what he is lying on, it looks like a bed. It must not be very comfortable. The statue doesn't look very happy, I don't know, I find it funny XD

Look at the hair on the statue of Dionysus! It is very rare to see a statue with such beautiful hair. It's also the first time I've seen a belly button on a statue. And what do you think is that next to the statue, a staff? Or something to lean on? It's a great statue from 150-200 AD.

You can see many everyday objects from the Hellenistic period in the photographs. Spoons made of bone, weights, small figures. Lion's head, ram's head handles and one of the most interesting ones is an object with the figure of Aphrodite. They only wrote that it was an object, they probably couldn't identify what it was. In the second photo there is a rooster figure, large paintings and oil lamps. Figure number 22 is very funny. People were making such humorous sculptures at that time too. I didn't expect to see number 24, the statue of people wrestling. I love this museum!

Bu fotoğrafları her zaman içeri girerken çekmiyorum hatta çoğu zaman dışarı çıktıktan sonra çekiyorum. Çünkü içeri girerken göreceğim şeyler için sabırsız oluyorum. Siz de aynı şeyi yapıyor musunuz? Yoksa siz her zaman içeri girerken mi binanın fotoğrafını çekersiniz?

Bu heykellerin çoğu tanrıların ve klasik heykellerden çok farklılar. Özellikle ilk fotoğraftaki ilk iki heykelde sadece insan bacakları yok, farklı şeyler de var. Bunların ne olduğunu tam olarak bilmiyorum. Diğer heykellere baktığınız zaman onlar da size daha önce detaylarını övdüğüm heykellerden bile çok daha detaylı. Etek detayları, elbise detayları, karın kasları ve pek çok başka detay var. Fark ettiniz değil mi?

Orada en sevdiğim şeylerden biri de müzenin tasarımıydı. Odalara heykeller çok güzel yerleştirilmiş ve insan gezerken her yerde bir şeyler görüyordu. Bu heykeller onlardan bazıları. Özellikle komutan başı heykeli harika görünüyor. Muhtemelen gösterişli bir miğfer ile tasvir edilmiş. Kazılarda bütün bir şekilde bulunamamış olması çok üzücü.

Bir müzede olmazsa olmaz heykeller Afrodit ve Zeus heykelleridir. Bunların olmadığı hiçbir müzeyi hayal edemiyorum. Şimdiye kadar gittiğim bütün müzelerde vardı. Bunlar çok havalı ve detaylı görünüyor. Roma dönemi şimdiye kadar gördüğüm kadarıyla heykelciliğin altın çağı. Bu heykeller de o döneme ait.

İlginç heykellerin bulunduğu başka bir oda. Yatan bir kişinin heykeli sıkça gördüğümüz bir şey değil ama burada birkaç tanesini görebilirsiniz. Buradaki pek çok heykel bütün halinde değil ama parçalar bile etkileyici görünüyor. 3. fotoğraftaki bacağa bakın. Ayak parmakları ve tırnakları bile detaylı bir şekilde yapılmış. Etkileyici!

Bu müzede diğerlerinden farklı şeyler asla bitmiyor. Daha önce bir asma kütüğü heykeli görmüş müydünüz? Roma İmparatorluk dönemine ait bu kütükler mükemmel görünüyor. Kütüğün üzerindeki işlemeler o kadar detaylı ki her şeyi fark edebilirsiniz. İkinci fotoğrafta bir köpek heykeli var. O belki de bir şehrin koruyucusuydu. Veya da bir mezarın kim bilir? Sıradan heykeller olmadığı kesin ve bu kadar çok müze gezmeme rağmen hala farklı şeyler görüyor olmak beni çok sevindiriyor. Fotoğraflardaki heykellerin bazılarını yakından görmek ister misiniz?

Yatan Satyr heykelini görmeyi beklemiyordunuz değil mi? Kişisel seçimim diyebilirim. Üzerine uzandığı şeyin ne olduğunu çok merak ediyorum. Bir yatağa benziyor. Çok rahat olmasa gerek. Heykel çok da mutlu görünmüyor gibi, bilemiyorum bana komik geldi XD

Dionysos heykelinin saçlarına bakın! Bu kadar güzel saçlara sahip bir heykeli çok nadir görebilirsiniz. Heykellerde göbek deliği olduğunu da ilk defa görüyorum. Peki sizce heykelin yanındaki şey ne? Bir asa mı? Yoksa dayanacak bir şey mi? Milattan sonra 150-200'lü yıllara oranla harika bir heykel.

Helenistik döneme ait pek çok günlük eşyayı fotoğraflarda görebilirsiniz. Kemikten yapılmış kaşıklar, ağırlıklar, küçük figürler. Aslan başı, koç başı saplar ve en ilginç olanlardan biri de Afrodit figürlü obje. Sadece obje olduğunu yazmışlar, muhtemelen ne olduğunu tam olarak belirleyememişler. İkinci fotoğrafta ise horoz figürü, büyük tablolar kandiller var. 22 numaralı figür çok komik. İnsanlar o dönemde de bu tarz mizahi heykeller yapıyorlarmış. 24 numaradaki güreşen insanlar heykelini de burada görmeyi beklemiyordum. Bu müzeye bayıldım!
