A Time to myself:I prioritize self love πŸ˜˜πŸ’Ÿ

We live in a century where twenty-four hours seem not to be enough for us to carry out our daily activities. Sometimes we wake up in the morning and already feel pressure. Most times, I begin to think about how I will scale through. All in all, no matter how busy my schedule is, I don't joke with my me-time.

For me, this is a time I get to take care of my mental health, refuel, and relieve myself of pressure. You know, with all the pressure, one can easily break down and slip into depression. I take some time to myself, and I don't joke with it. I discovered that I needed to take care of myself; no one can love and care for me more than myself. People will treat you the way you treat yourself.

I take my me-time so seriously that even my parents, siblings, and friends know that when it's time for me to refuel and relax, I don't joke with it.

For me, having me-time isn't always easy, but I always make sure that I don't miss a period where I get to relax and expel all the bad and negative energy.
When things are so difficult, I pick up a pen and my note book and write a letter to myself, telling myself that everything will be well and that I have everything under control.
I know you might say, Who writes a letter to themselves? Well, writing a letter to myself is a me-time I don't joke with, and it has done wonders for me.

Let me take you all on a journey of my own. For me as a teacher, it's difficult to have quality rest time as one always has work to do. During school hours, we are given forty minutes for lunch break, and I use that period to listen to music. I love music, and I can tell you it is food for the soul. You know kids can stress you out, and this always works for me. Anytime I go for a break, I listen to music and sing along. It helps to clear my head, and I will feel energized and revitalized.

Five minutes of dancing, no matter how busy I am, helps me a lot. I can tell you that some days can be very stressful. I remember a day I had to travel, and my flight was delayed for six hours, and then we were told that the flight had been cancelled. I was already stressed out, and I was about to join others and rant. I just walked to the restroom, listened to my favorite song, and started dancing. After about five minutes, I felt happy, like nothing had happened. So for me, during my me-time, dancing helps, and it's refreshing.

How can I forget to tell you the first thing I do in the morning before heading out? I say a word of prayer and meditate. It gives me a sense of reassurance that I will be able to handle whatever the day throws at me. When I face a difficult situation, I speak to myself and meditate. It's a me-time I don't joke with; most times it's just five minutes, but it helps me a lot.

I watch movies during my free time; it really helps to relieve me of a lot of pressure, especially comedy movies.
I remember one time I was really angry. After seeing a movie, the person who offended me came and apologized to me. I didn't even remember the offense he was apologizing to me for.

I have started drawing during my me-time, and I tell you, it's very therapeutic. Well, I was not one who loved drawing. But this particular day, I was just so stressed out that I just picked up a piece of paper and started drawing the kind of car I wanted. Well, I can tell you the drawing was funny, but I felt energized, and I began to draw the different types of cars I could think of. While I was doing that, I was really happy and smiling all through. I have really embraced my new-found love for drawing. It is so refreshing and helpful at the same time.

Me-time has now become such a regular routine for me that a day can't pass without me having time for myself. I might be listening to music, and deep down, I'm evaluating myself . All in all, I can say my me-time is for me and for my good.

Oh, I had totally forgotten about dancing. How come! I love dancing; a friend of mine used it as therapy to help him out of depression, and he says it worked.

What you say about evaluating yourself, I think it's essential; it opens a space for self-improvement and also self-acceptance.

Nice read!
