Discovering the Safety and Charm of Nigeria: A Personal Perspective.
Hello guys. Good evening and welcome to my blog. Thanks to @Indiaunited for this week's prompts. How safe is my country.......
For instance, as a Nigerian I sometimes have to defend the kind of security and tourism my country offers. Today, I would love to tell my story and give you an insight on what makes Nigeria a very special country to be in.
Safety in Nigeria
Like many other countries, Nigeria has its own peculiar security issues. The safety environment can sometimes even look quite different from one geographical area to another. Security measures have been enacted in parts of Nigeria, including the States of Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja – police patrol and local neighborhood watch. Overall, some northern zone may be more expose to security threat compared to other zone because of the on-going conflicts.
However, most Nigerians have satisfying lives and learn how to protect themselves from the unsafe conditions. So by keeping informed, following advice of local authorities and public health officials, men and women can continue to get around their communities safely. The country has a good element of social cohesiveness and this is allied with the issue of security.
Living in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria: Of Love with the Beautiful South-South
Akwa Ibom State popularly referred to as the ‘Heart Beat of the Nation’ is situated in the southern part of Nigeria and is a treasure trove of natural and cultural wonders and friendly people. Knowing that I have taken up living here, I am fully aware that residing in this place is a joyous experience that involves special memorable moments.
Natural Beauty
Named after the popular Akwa Ibom, the area is said to be famous for the exhibits of wonderful landscapes. The state was endowed with beautiful coastal features, rainforests and calm riverine environment. The Ibom Plaza and the attractive the Twin Lakes are among the many natural tourism sites that provide a calm experience to persons who intend to leave the bustle of city life. This has made the state to have some of the best sandy and natural beaches in the country including the well developed Ibeno Beach for appropriate relaxation and other related activities.
Rich Culture and Tradition
Culture is vibrant and very much alive and as a resident of Akwa Ibom, one is a witness to this ethnic heritage. The state holds the Ibibio and Annang ethnic nations that have their special culture and language. Celebrations and cultural celebrations are therefore common here, for instance the, troubadours’ Ibibio Festival or the Ugep New Yam Festival. These occasions are very good due in order to listen to traditional music , to watch the dances and to taste the traditional food and drinks of that area .
Warm and Welcoming Community
Another strength I found a little charming is the people of the Akwa Ibom state. The people are very welcoming and friendly to the visitors who flock the area in large numbers. There is a feeling of togetherness of people here, and it is quite possible to build interpersonal relations with a lasting impact with the local people. The end comes from people I’ve met and interactions I’ve had with members of the community at large and it simply makes me feel so welcome.
Delicious Cuisine
The food and drinks of the Akwa Ibom people are very tasty and delicious. It has a rich and varied diet which is greatly regarded all across the country. With such delicacies as Afang soup and Edikang Ikong soup, the local foods are also stylistically indigenous and constructed from local foods. There is a wide variety of snack which are readily available and easily within the pockets, as one moves around the city by street foods sellers.
Growing Opportunities
Akwa Ibom State is also gradually assuming the status of economic growth and development. The government has been actively developing the infrastructure and supporting the development of small and entrepreneurship assisting the business and creating jobs. This is a dynamic place for professional and business persons especially the young and fresh in the job market to make their career milestones.
Recommendation and Travel Dreams
If I had the chance to advise the friends and acquaintances on the merits of Nigeria I would focus on thepossibility to explore the cultural background and the variety of geographies. Any history lovers out there will find the Ife ancient city and the Nok Culture to be important and worthy of a visit. Tourists interested in nature will like the Awhum Waterfall and the Mambilla Plateau view.
If I have an opportunity to travel around the country other than Akwalbom, I would like to visit Lagos, Abuja and Calabar; the city of festivals and natural endowment. It has a rich background and is picturesque, and depicts a side of Nigerian living that is unique.
Therefore, despite the mentioned problems, Nigeria is a country with a high spirit and wonderful ethnical background. I truly value Akwalbom with its vibrant environment it is a place that I truly enjoy being at. But for those who are ready and willing to wade through all the headaches, Nigeria can be a richly rewarding proposition.
I'm encouraging all hivians to engage this wonderful community. Below is the link to this week's prompts:
