THE LEGAL AGE IT IS

Age ain't nothing but a number, just what an artist said in a song, and my experience so far makes me believe In this

There's a reason for a legal age in a country and this is basically as a result of responsibility

Adulthood comes with responsibility the huge difference that separates being a Minor

This week's topic needs to be addressed,it's really an important one

My friend and I had this talk sometimes last week when I realized so many parents were prevented from coming inside the school to accompany their kids and monitor writing the joint administration matriculation board (JAMB) exam, a type of exam to gain admission into tertiary institution here in my country

The reason was that the board believed any child trying to gain admission into the university must have been of age and ripe for such life so they felt there was no reason for their parents to accompany them

It was the first time such a rule would be enforced and it affected so many kids just because they were way too young to even take the exam not to talk of having an experience of how to go about it without their parent

As an individual I agree with the board to prevent the parents from walking into the school premises to accompany their child, coming with them from home is enough, and letting them handle the rest from the school gate till the exam is written is better

A child trying to experience university life must be able to make decisions his or herself and not depend on parents

This balls back to the exam board setting rule of 18 and above to take the next year's exam, because 18 is believed to be an age where being a Minor stops

Yes I second this because I believe this age comes with an ability to make decisions concerning one's self and also where individual can manage and do the best over their individual affairs

I believe this age has gone beyond puberty and yeah adulthood is starting to set in

Sixteen looks too early to me as an age where minority ends because over here some are just trying to get hold of puberty or understand what it means which could be a strange thing to them,having these sets make decisions for themselves can be disastrous

Yeah age tells us how we do things, approach things, make decisions, and most importantly react but then it's just a type of factor that matters in maturity not a sole determinant m because so many things contribute to maturity

Life experience, exposure, growth, and society,all contribute to how mature we are

People can be younger in age and mature in doings just because of the exposure and experience they have
likewise, age can tell how mature one can be

Age is not and would never be the determinant of maturity, it can only be a factor

legal age can vary in us all as an individual just because we all are different A 16-year-old can be smarter than 18 and vice versa
but then I believe 18 feels right to be a legal age over responsibilities because it is the age that transit into the adulthood phase
