In African countries and the world at large today, this issue had a concerned one as this same issue on ground has done more harm than good to our female gender.

what is this Female Genital Mutilation? This is a circumcision done on Female organ by removing the first layer of the vaginal. This practices is practice within a cultural framework. The practice of female gender circumcision was part of African society.

We have some States in Nigeria that practice this circumcision, though medically it has been proven that the side effects of this can not be over emphasized as it have immediate effect and future effect on the female gender.

Let's take a look at Akwa Ibom and Cross River State were this practices is still relevant, many had been calling for the eradication of this menace as some have been exposed educationally and had understand that the disadvantage of this (Female Genital Mutilation) is more to the advantage if at all this is advantage to it. Now the campaign for the eradication of it is at the Urban level while those at the Rural Areas are tied to their cultural practices of it, any individual or groups that tries to dissuade their cultural and traditional belief will be penalized.

Let's take a look at effect of Female Genital Mutilation
Immediate Effect
Pains, tetanus or infection and shock.

1. Pains: At that stage or age of a matured Female Genital going through circumcision the pains must be unbearable and the pains takes time which can not be compared to the childhood circumcision again the Female will experience pains during sexual intercourse.
2. Infections; A Female gender that had gone through circumcision is prone to have infection. At that point her vagina at risk of having infection and this infection is likely to lead to the long term infection which is I fertility.
3. Shock; A shock may occur to a female genital during or after the circumcision which can lead to been unconscious or death.
4. Phobia; To some extent the social life of that female gender will be affected.

Considering the long term effect of Female Genital Mutilation;
Infertility and hard labour

1. Infertility; Female genital that hard gone throuver vaginal circumcision is likely to have infertility problem as she had been exposed to infection before then and a lot of things had trespass causing damage to the uterus.
   2 finally on that the female gender is liable to have hard labour during child birth, because of the mutilation.

In summary Female Gender Mutilation can not be over emphasized as the effect on our females is unbearable and causing more harm than good. Medically is unhealthy, mentally is not sound, academically is not accepted.
