Splinterlands: Explore and Expand Lores - FEROX DEFENDER [EN/PT]

There is no better blacksmith than the feroxi. Their bodies consist of flowing magma as hot as the forge itself, and they can change their hands into any form they desire. On the battlefield, they move and flow like roiling lava spilling from a volcano. Any that stray too close are burnt by their heat or struck down by their molten weapons.
Due to the heat their bodies emanate, ferox defenders live in volcanic caves, finding it the least combustible material. When immigrants from the Burning Lands arrived in the Great Lowlands, the native feroxi were overjoyed to see them. They quickly proved their skill in smithing and were warmly welcomed into the Ferexian Empire.

Greetings.

This week’s community engagement challenge had an interesting theme. It focused on the lore of the entire Splinterlands universe, and you had to write a short story, poem, or background story for a character that deepens some aspect of it.

As you can see, I chose to write about a monster that was certainly inspired a bit by Hephaestus the Blacksmith.

The following story was crafted in my own words, based on the original context taken from Splinterlands: Ferox Defender.

Let me tell you something that happened with Gantrum.

He stared down his general, a man who had made some of the worst military decisions I’ve ever heard of. Seriously, some choices were even more ridiculous than those of the former general, Reinart, who was known as The Slow.

No idea why he got that nickname.

And now, this same general was trying to get rid of the ferox who guarded the forges and bring in his own people from the Burning Lands to take over the smithing.

Gantrum, completely fed up, decided enough was enough. He drove his sword into the general's belly, right up to the hilt. Holding the man to keep him from falling, he leaned in close and whispered in his ear:

The forge is a cruel place.

Get the resemblance with Hephaestus, the blacksmith, in how he deals with his problems?

When I first started having some crazy ideas in my head about using only the fire element in Splinterlands, I tried really hard to make this card work.

And honestly, it's a good thing to have on hand.

For those who take a longer-term view of the game and keep this card at a high level or rent it out anyway, know that it's worth keeping until level 6. It has a good combination of support skills, though its mana cost, compared to its melee attack, can feel like you’re losing a turn without striking.

Of course, there are rule sets where this creature can shine.

Getting its armor advantage and Repair in sequence can be great for rules like the one that gives all creatures the Thorns ability.
