Esta iniciativa me alegró mucho y esperaba con ganas que llegara el mes de Diciembre para compartir en la plataforma parte de lo que significa para mi esta época, es una temporada llena de mucha felicidad y cierres, siempre recordando el motivo por el cual se celebran estas fechas.

Uno de mis recuerdos de la infancia favorito está relacionado con la navidad y las fechas decembrinas en casa. Recordar muchas cosas mientras pensaba en la idea para redactar este post, me hizo viajar en el tiempo y buscar en fotos de hace muchos años para ilustrarles un poco de aquello que viví en mi infancia cuando la navidad llegaba y aunque no están todos los recuerdos plasmados en fotos, puedo asegurarles que fueron navidades muy felices, a pesar de muchas cosas que pudieron pasar en mi vida.

One of my favorite childhood memories is related to Christmas and December dates at home. Remembering many things while I was thinking about the idea to write this post made me travel back in time and search through photos from many years ago to illustrate a little of what I experienced in my childhood when Christmas came and although not all the memories are captured In photos, I can assure you that it was a very happy Christmas, despite many things that could have happened in my life.

Todas las fechas navideñas se anunciaban desde el mes de Octubre o antes, en Septiembre, y desde ese momento todo lo que podía pensar era en los regalos navideños y en la lista interminable que le hacía año tras año a Santa y recibía todo lo contrario a lo que le pedía, luego supe por qué ocurría eso.

All the Christmas dates were announced from the month of October or before, in September, and from that moment all I could think about was the Christmas gifts and the endless list that I made to Santa year after year and received quite the opposite of what I was asking for, later I found out why that happened.

Vengo de una familia de 3 hermanos, yo soy el segundo hermano. Todos somos relativamente contemporáneos entre nosotros, nos llevamos pocos años entre un hermano y otro, pero siempre nos juntábamos con mi mamá para escribir las cartas a Santa Claus (o Niño Jesús, como lo conocemos en Venezuela) cada Diciembre, siempre esperando expectantes a recibir teléfonos celulares, equipos de sonido, Nintendos y otros.

I come from a family of 3 siblings, I am the second brother. We are all relatively contemporary with each other, we are a few years apart from one brother to another, but we always got together with my mother to write the letters to Santa Claus (or Child Jesus, as we know him in Venezuela) every December, always waiting expectantly to receive cell phones, stereos, Nintendos and others.

Crecimos en los suburbios de una ciudad pequeña, en un urbanización de edificios relativamente nuevo para la fecha en la que llegamos ahí (1991), puras parejas jóvenes con hijos y sino los tenían para cuando se mudaron, ahí los tuvieron y fueron parte de mi infancia. Estuvimos rodeados de muchos amigos y vecinos de la misma edad de la nuestra, especialmente en el edificio donde vivíamos, se podrán imaginar cómo eran las navidades con unos 16 niños y niñas corriendo por todo el edificio subiendo y bajando las escaleras, hiperactivos, esperando que se hicieran las 12 am del 25 de Diciembre para subir a abrir los regalos y compartir con los demás lo que habíamos recibido.

We grew up in the suburbs of a small city, in a relatively new development of buildings for the date we arrived there (1991), purely young couples with children and if they didn't have them when they moved, they had them there and they were part of my life. childhood. We were surrounded by many friends and neighbors of the same age as ours, especially in the building where we lived, you can imagine what Christmas was like with about 16 boys and girls running all over the building going up and down the stairs, hyperactive, hoping that It was 12 am on December 25 to go up to open the gifts and share with others what we had received.

Siempre en casa tuvimos navidades a todo dar, nunca faltó la decoración porque mi madre desde el 1° de Diciembre ya estaba sacando las cajas de adornos navideños que se escondían en los closets y que solo veían la luz del sol desde Diciembre hasta el mes de Febrero (nunca entendí porque duraban tanto tiempo las casas adornadas de navidad si todo terminaba el 6 de Enero).

At home we always had Christmas to the fullest, there was never a lack of decoration because since December 1 my mother was already taking out the boxes of Christmas decorations that were hidden in the closets and that only saw sunlight from December to the month of February (I never understood why houses decorated for Christmas lasted so long if everything ended on January 6).

Mis padres procuraron en todo momento darnos unas navidades llenas de todo lo que culturalmente se hacía en una casa venezolana durante el mes de Diciembre y siempre lograron cubrir con esas tradiciones. El día que más disfrutábamos era sin duda el 24 de Diciembre, porque era el día en el que hacíamos de todo: la comida, estrenar ropa, esperar regalos y escuchar mucha música tradicional navideña (gaitas), era el día más ocupado del año pero nosotros por ser niños solo teníamos la responsabilidad de estar listos a tiempo para la cena y salir a jugar hasta que el Niño Jesús dejara los regalos al pie del árbol de navidad para abrirlos con emoción para después salir a la calle pasadas las 12 am para ver que habían recibido los demás niños y bajar a las calles a jugar con los nuevos regalos que recibimos.

My parents tried at all times to give us a Christmas full of everything that was culturally done in a Venezuelan house during the month of December and they always managed to cover these traditions. The day we enjoyed the most was undoubtedly December 24, because it was the day we did everything: eat food, wear new clothes, wait for gifts and listen to a lot of traditional Christmas music (gaitas), it was the busiest day of the year. year but because we were children we only had the responsibility of being ready on time for dinner and going out to play until the Child Jesus left the gifts at the foot of the Christmas tree to open them with emotion and then go out after 12 am to see what the other children had received and go down to the streets to play with the new gifts we received.

Tuve la la bendición y la dicha de celebrar las navidades rodeado de mi familia y amigos. Atesoro esos recuerdos con mucho cariño pero entiendo que forman parte de mi niñez y que no volverán pero me alegro haberlos vivido y experimentado una época en mi vida en la que tal vez muchos no tuvieron ni la mitad de lo que yo tuve en ese momento.

I had the blessing and joy of celebrating Christmas surrounded by my family and friends. I treasure those memories with great affection but I understand that they are part of my childhood and that they will not return, but I am glad to have lived them and experienced a time in my life in which perhaps many did not have even half of what I had at that time.

Agradezco mucho todo lo que viví en mi infancia durante las fechas navideñas, viajamos en familia a visitar y celebrar con mi familia paterna, mis padres se esforzaron por darnos regalos útiles cada navidad por muchos años, disfrutamos realmente la niñez a plenitud en las navidades y fuimos niños felices con lo mucho o lo poco que pudieron darnos, por eso agradezco mis navidades durante la niñez.

I am very grateful for everything that I experienced in my childhood during the Christmas season, we traveled as a family to visit and celebrate with my paternal family, my parents made an effort to give us useful gifts every Christmas for many years, we really enjoyed our childhood to the fullest at Christmas and We were happy children with how much or how little they could give us, that's why I am grateful for my Christmases during childhood.

Es una hermosa iniciativa la que han iniciado este año y espero poder compartir un poco más de ésta época tan bonita del año.
