EXCELLENCE IN SKILLS
Excellence according to Aristotle is never an accident, it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution.
Excellence is a state or quality of being exceptionally good or superior in a particular area of specialization either in skill or anything one finds doing at any point in life,it involves continuous improvement to achieve one's best.
So excellence in skill is being exceptionally good in a learned ability to achieve a result.
To be excellent in a particular skill involves intentional effort, consistent improvement, a conscious effort to produce result
The world as it exists today gives no room for incompetence, unprofessionalism, amateurism so any skills learnt with a conscious effort has to be given ones all to ensure it's excellent.
People often say make do with the little you have true but whatever you are putting out there has to be worth it, it has to be given your best,it has to involve conscious effort to achieve a great result.
Excellence in skills is not just about personal achievement it also helps in the development of the society as a whole because excellence contributes to the innovation l, efficiency and progress of a community for example skilled and competent health care givers safe lives with their expertise
I often like to give an example of a baker, baking is an acquired skill that involves labour and effort and creativity to reach the said consumer, a baker cannot put anything unattractive and less creative on social media it would have little or no engagement so to be excellent is hard work, serious labour, continual effort, serious creativity.
You have to be exceptionally good at what you do to reach the right audience.
Excellence in skills involves a wide range of requirements for both personal and professional success:
First is a creative insight: To be excellent in whatever skill you have one has to have the ability to view problems from different perspective and be able to provide unique and specific solutions to them
Secondly is a vision; A professional and competent individual needs to have the ability to think ahead and foresee future possibilities so as to be able to align and plan actions accordingly. Excellence is serious labour and hard work, it involves critical thinking ability.
The third is Focus; Amateur and incompetent often loose focus off the set goal easily, a competent one is often driven by his goal keeping his eye on the ball, prioritizing the set tasks and being effective at it ensuring to minimize distractions and frivolities. To be excellent in ones learned ability and to produce a tangible result focus is a virtue
Lastly is versatility; A competent and professional man who is putting much labour and conscious effort into a skill has to be versatile
Being versatile is the ability to adapt to change so as to enable prompt and quick responses to new situations such as performing tasks across different roles.
Embracing excellence is essential for the success of any skill whatsoever,it cut across every phase of life therefore give whatever you do your very best and all.
Remember whatever is worth doing is worth doing well
