The older I get…
You know one thing about life? It has a way of mirroring things we are guilty of through the lens of others and upon seeing it, we can't help but feel a certain way.
The older I get the more I understand the depth of my parent's love for me. Imagine going through so much in life and still loving your child unconditionally.
I listened to this beautiful song Older and I was greatly touched.
I have heard this song a couple of times but for the first time I did not just listen to the song play in the background, I paid rapt attention to the lyrics and I was blown away as every word spoke to me.
Older is a beautiful song by Sasha Alex Sloan, it was released in November 2018 in the album Loser making it one of Sasha’s most loved songs.
Older is a song that can be viewed from different perspectives which makes the the song more meaningful and beautiful. It is a song that reminds us of how amazing our parents were and still are.
The older I get, the more that I see My parents aren't heroes, they're just like me
The older we get the more we begin to realize that our parents were not as bad as we thought when we were younger. All they ever did was discipline and groom us. They are also not as scary as we thought as well.
Growing up the norm was to plot how to run away from home, throw tantrums, become rebels, and sometimes insinuate we were adopted but growing up and realizing that our lives weren't as tough as we thought nor did our parents hate us makes everything funny if you ask me.
The older I get the more responsibility I take on and sometimes these responsibilities can be overwhelming and I am forced to explode other times I can decide to shut everyone out. Now that I am older I can’t help but feel sorry for my parents.
This people did hit rock bottom several times yet they had to still be my parents, they had so many outbursts yet they couldn't just opt and leave as they had to still be my parents, because I know of some that didn't stay but left, and even those times when they were penniless they had to provide and still be my parents!!
The lyrics of the song resonate with me and so many other people who had some notions about their parents while growing up. The song is an eye-opener to some of the things our parents did for us that we took for granted
Another part of the song talked about praying and wishing you were born into a different family, a family that was perfect by your own standard but years later so many of us just want to go back home to be in our not-so-perfect families again and to be treated like babies once again.
The song Older is not just any random song you listen to or sing along, it is a song that speaks volumes and is a big inspiration to me as it inspires me to love and appreciate my parents more.
The songwriter did a good job in passing across her message as we the listeners are forced to ponder on this message of hers and the more we ponder on it, the more we get clarity on the kind of relationship that existed and still exist between us and our parents.
Looking for something nice to listen to I recommend Older and I bet that you will love it😃

What a brilliant song, and love your words too. Came at a good time in my life actually :)
Thank you so much dear friend!
Our parents really are heroes, because they sacrificed a lot for us. Just the other day I was talking with a friend, and we were reminiscing on how during our childhood days, when things get faulty in the house, we immediately run to our parents, and they try to sort it out, but now whenever things get faulty, it's on you, if you don't fix it, it remains that way, and we had a good laugh about it.
Hehehehe the tables have turned you see, such is life my darling😊
