Striking a balance [LOH #182]
Sometimes I wish I was self-employed, being my own boss, taking orders from nobody, getting enough rest whenever needed without being queried by anyone, and also the one dishing out the rules and orders but then again if wishes were horses beggars would ride on.
1️⃣ How do you handle job stress? Do you deal with it well, or at some point has it generated some health discomfort or problems within the family?
The workload in my office can be too much sometimes that I just want to scream, keep everything aside, and walk away😂😂😂but on a second thought I know where I am going in life and I see all these challenges as little bumps on my way to success and I know for a fact that they are not constant.
For starters waking up early every day is such a hassle for me. You can’t sleep as much as you want to, your alarm keeps blaring, you need to wake up early so you can get ready for work on time, beat traffic, and get to work early to avoid any form of punishment.
Sacrificing your sleep in the name of chasing your daily bread can suck sometimes but other times it can be pretty rewarding.
It is no news that stress is inevitable and like they say, no pain, no gain.
I get really stressed at work sometimes and sometimes I feel completely helpless as a result of not being able to handle everything around me or take the stress away, other times I try my best to handle it well so I don’t make silly decisions or speak rudely to people.
Overtime I have been able to develop some coping mechanisms to help me deal with stress.
To start with, I try not to procrastinate as procrastination leads to more stress. Procrastination feels like a temporary relief but in the long run, it causes more harm than good. Imagine you keep postponing all the tasks you need to do only to finally do it one day and it feels like the burden of the whole world is on your shoulders.
I deal with work stress by trying so hard not to procrastinate, I try to do everything that I have to do promptly as this solves the problem of being swamped with work in the future.
Another way I deal with work stress is by sleeping well. Sleep helps to ease our stress. When you sleep your brain cells and muscles are relaxed and are free from all tension, you wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the next day.
Furthermore, I try my best to eat healthy. I try not to skip breakfast as skipping breakfast affects my mood and productivity for that day. Like they say a hungry man is an angry man.
It’s one thing to eat but another thing to have a balanced meal. Less junk, more veggies and fruits as they do the magic every single time.
Food is power as we all know, eating the right meal at the right time helps keep my body in shape, energized, and ready to do any and everything.
Would you prefer to do your office work from home?
Would I love to work from home? Hell yes!! I would love to work from home any time and any day! Working from home is pure bliss.
While working from home you have the opportunity to nap once in a while which you are unable to do at your workplace because you can’t be caught sleeping during working hours.
Working from home means you are able to eat healthy, you can eat whatever you want and whenever you want from the comfort of your home without spending much.
Working from home helps to balance your relationship with your family and friends, that is something I have always yearned for as sometimes I get swamped with work and I forget to reach out to my family and friends, I keep procrastinating when to reach out to them. Little by little, days turn into weeks, weeks into months and before I know it I am slowly withdrawing from my family and friends and this is all thanks to my job.
In conclusion, we all must look for suitable ways to deal with stress as being stressed out or burnt out is not healthy.😃

And when you're self employed, you'll wish there would be someone to tell you what to do when you get so stucked in certain situation. Trust me, I'm in that situation now.
I know right? They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

It's good that you have certain ways to cope with work-related stress. Self-employment isn't easy especially when you're just starting. You'll be working more hours than 9-5 hehe. But yeah, it can be nice when you have established ways to manage stuff. 😉
I totally agree with you as to every advantage there is a disadvantage😃
I also want to be my own boss and lessen the stress that comes with the demands of the job I have now.

Some day you will be your own boss but until then keep pushing😃
Being your own boss gives you this kind of freedom. I enjoyed reading this.
#dreemerforlife
Yes it does give you your freedom.
Thanks for the lovely comment🥰
You're welcome. ❤️
Get a good night's sleep and leave work at the office. Don't carry any of it with you when you go home. Stress is serious, my friend. It makes people sick.
Take care of yourself.
(there are mixed opinions on this wishing thing... )
