Not the end of us…
"Babe! Babe!, come see", I screamed at the top of my voice as I called my husband.
"Honey, what is it?" My husband George ran out of the house to the garden where I was.
"Babe, look" I pointed at the awful sight in front of me as my mouth was too heavy to say what I saw.
"Oh No!, No! this can't be happening", I watched as the countenance of my husband's face fell.
"Babe, what are we going to do?" I replied softly, not being able to recognize the voice that I heard.
"Honey I have no idea", for the first time in ages my husband who knew the answer to every question was unable to answer this heart-wrenching question.
I looked round to what was supposed to be our beautiful garden and my heart sank, I became weak instantly as all I could see were ruins, the storm of last night did outdo itself. Nothing was left to salvage, the ruins were massive.
I turned around to look at my husband and all I could see in his eyes was a man who was hurt, a man who was trying so hard not to break down. The tomatoes, pepper, yam, vegetables, and everything we planted in our garden that was to be harvested in two days were gone. What was supposed to be our ticket to a good life was now the source of our unhappiness.
The papers were signed already, it was a done deal. We were supposed to be the main suppliers of foodstuff to the Heritage Hotel. The Hotel just came into business and we were lucky enough to be awarded the contract.
An interview had been set for this position and my husband George had passed with flying colours. According to the manager “your pitch was so good that I was forced to contemplate having a garden of my own”.
“Babe, what do I tell them? How do I explain to them that there is no deal? how do I refund part of the money they gave to me as a deposit for the contract? Babe, how? How?
The more he spoke the more his words tore my heart into a thousand pieces. Standing in front of me was the man I love who was about to lose it as his dream was just about to be shattered.
“Babe listen, we’ll get through this just like every obstacle we have had to face as a couple, it breaks my heart to see the massive ruins the storm had caused but it pains me more that my rock is about to throw in the towel”.
I knew how hurt my husband was as the last time I had seen him like this was when he lost his mother due to the hospital’s negligence. I had seen how broken he was, he couldn’t talk to anyone, and he practically shielded himself from the rest of the world.
In times like this, I wish he could just cry it all out instead of bottling it and allowing it to hurt him inside.
“Babe calm down”, I pulled him into a hug.
“My love I don’t know what to do”, George held me so tight and it felt like he was going to squeeze the life out of me.
After rubbing his back and having the courage to speak I softly said to him;
“Baby, bad things happen to people every day and challenges of life have no timetable, challenges can jump in at you any time but what sets you apart from the millions of people going through one challenge or the other is your ability to move on, rise again and conquer”.
“Okay, baby I have heard you”. George said softly.
Seeing that my words had little impact on him, I pulled away from the hug, I raised his chin and I looked at him directly in the eyes.
“Listen, George Harry Thompson, the massive ruins in your garden will not be the end of you, we shall both go into the house change and head to Heritage Hotel, whatever fate awaits us we shall face it head-on”.
I saw my husband’s eyes lit up, in that moment I knew I had been able to get through to him.
I kissed him on his lips and said “We’ll get through this my love”, hearing these words George smiled.
“Oh mine, I never knew I got married to a tiger, lucky me!” George winked at me.
“Oh yes, baby! You can say that again, I smiled.
We held each other's hands as we made our way to our house. We don’t know what the future holds for us but we know we are both in this together.

I admire how the wife demonstrated accountability, and her choice of words restored hope in her husband. I just loved the way the wife portrayed herself, she is reliable and she knows the right words to say in situations.
Yeah, she is incredible!!
Thank you for reading Sabrinah🥰🥰

You are welcome 😁
Trust me, this was a soothing and encouraging words from a lovely wife to her husband who is down and painful with the situation of things. Most times, this is what husbands need, a woman who is able to lift them up when they are down and that is what you did. You both would weather the storm together and things would be fine next.
