My Take on "Abigail": A Wild Ride of Vampire Thrills
I watched “Abigail” just now and man, what a crazy experience. It had me on edge of my seat from beginning to end.
Let me tell you why it is worth your time:
To begin with, let’s examine the plot:
It revolves around a group of individuals who decide to abduct a girl and happen to spend a night in one house together with her.
Simple?
Not exactly!
The girl they kidnapped happens to be a vampire! A ballerina vampire no less. Now that’s something you don’t see every day.
The characters in this movie are real stars. Melissa Barrera is at the front of the line; believe me, she does not disappoint. She acted in such a way that I remained glued to my TV screen all through her performance.
And others?
They are likewise awesome. Each role is utterly distinct and unforgettable, which is not always true about movies like this one.
One thing I really liked about “Abigail” is how much tension it builds up. Before all the vampire stuff gets started, these characters are right there with you and let me tell you they are not boring. The tension among them is palpable, and it grabs you from the start.
Now let’s discuss the vampire side of things:
I am not going to ruin what is happening here by giving spoilers, but trust me it has been done real good.
The film makers did homage to vampire lore, yet put their own twist on it. And how they reveal that this person becomes a vampire?
It's both stunning and gratifying in my opinion.
But what caught my attention in “Abigail” is its warmth. For one thing, I was not expecting to get so invested with these characters; however by the end of the film I was cheering for them wholeheartedly. It speaks volumes about the writing and acting that such strong emotions were able to be pulled out of me by them.
Abigail is a total blast of a movie. It’s fun, it’s exciting and it’s unexpectedly emotional. This one is definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of vampire films. And even if you’re not, I think there’s still something here for you to enjoy.
So have you seen Abigail?
