Penning down my weekends
We always look forward to weekends — two days to recalibrate or do what we can't do on weekdays like cleaning house, visiting people and of course church on Sunday. It had been two weeks my Aunt did not get to see the boys. She was so happy when we went to her house last Saturday. I did not get to blog on the past weekends due to busy cleaning house and also tuition, let's do it now!
Lunch at Aunt's
Aunt immediately showed the boys what she had bought for them. She knows the boys love Chipsmore biscuits and they also love chocolate. There is a new chocolate collaborated by two companies, the Chipsmore one and the Dairy Milk one, they made chocolate chips in chocolate bar. She happily bought it to give to them, while also explaining the 2-in-1 chocolate to my eldest son.
What she cooked for us
She said she cooked simple today based on my request - two dishes only! More than enough for us.
1. Stewed potatoes with pork
She used combination of lean pork and pork belly for this Chinese stew knowing that my eldest son prefers lean pork and my youngest son loves pork fat. A basic stew with soy sauce and oyster sauce but super flavorful and delicious.
2. Chicken with Enoki
This one is her own creation. Sometimes, she was running out of idea what to cook, and she just tried to combine whatever protein she had with another ingredients either tofu, or vegetables or mushrooms. For this one, she paired it with enoki mushrooms. Quite a special outcome of flavours. Yums!
We had great time catching up while the boys also had fun time in the room which my Aunt kept all the toys for them. Moments like this - we really treasured.
At BAJ cafe again
I posted about my dinner at BAJ Cafe on my previous blog but on that blog, I mentioned I forgot to take picture of my 'Bak Kut Teh' dish. We went to BAJ Cafe again last Sunday after church, whole gang of us. I could not resist but to order 'Bak Kut Teh' (BKT) again.
1. Soup BKT and dry BKT.
I ordered the soup one and my husband ordered the dry one. Both were extremely delicious. The soup one came with the hearty herbal soup with pork rib, pork belly and some lean pork, a little vegetables and some fu-chuk. The dry one came with big amount of pork belly being stir fry in special sauce with dark soy sauce, cuttlefish strips and some ladies finger with a tinge of spiciness from the dried chillies. I will definitely come back again for this.
2. Buttermilk and salted egg chicken with rice
My sons ordered a plate of buttermilk chicken with rice and a plate of salted egg chicken with rice. Super yummy too. The chicken cubes were properly deep fried, the meat was not hard at all, soft juicy on the inside and crispy fried skin which coated well with the buttermilk sauce and salted egg sauce. They ate to their hearts' content! =)
It was a good time at church and a great time eating together with friends and family. Many times, it was in the midst of people we loved that we find strength to journey the life.

Soup bkt pls. Not a fan of dry version, might as well go Kung pow if it's dry
Different abit from Kung Po, dry bkt usually stir fry with cuttlefish or some salted fish. But yes, you are right, soup one is a must!
