Challenging days but with food packed by husband ❤️

It is Day 5 and my youngest son still has the pain at his intestines, causing him not able to eat nor drink. This is the only time I will give thanks for the existence of his g-tube for tubefeeding, otherwise we will need to admit him for drip as hydration and nutrients. Despite the hectic hourly tubefeeding, I still tried my best to cook some meals at home for the eldest son to save some money, of course those were simple fast cook which I may blog about that soon.

For now, I want to write on the food my husband prepared for me these few days, I am forever grateful. He knows I don't really fancy the pasta I cooked for my eldest son, because I am not a pasta girl except plain aglio olio or seafood aglio olio or beef aglio olio. My friends used to remark on why I loved tasteless pasta, but to me the fragrance from the garlic bursting in the olive oil, coupled with salt, pepper and chilli flakes, gave that particular robust taste of pasta. That's for me at least! Okay, back to husband. Let me list down the food he prepared for me these few days!

Chee Cheong Fun

There is this stall selling chee cheong fun which was recommended by me to my husband during his younger days, and he immediately loved it, which recently reopens after closed down for years due to Covid19. I had so many memories with this stall because during my 4 years of study here, almost every night, my housemates and I would walk here for dinner. Yes, we stayed just beside the stall. Such convenience! Husband went out for dinner, bringing our eldest son, so he packed for me the side dishes of chee cheong fun consisted of a big fresh tofu stuffed with fish meat, two fish balls, two dumplings and lastly which was my favourite of all, pork boingy skin with stuffed minced pork.

Super duper yummy especially when you also dipped in their signature chilli sauce and sweet sauce. He still remembers what I love and I love all those in soup. You may choose either soup style or fried style. I want to go back there soon after my youngest son recovers!

Dry (Konlou) Pork kuey teow with bittergourd

Another day after he sent the son to school, he visited a market he never visited for many years called Air Panas market. There were many stalls opened in the morning, catered for those who ate breakfast early before work. He packed for me a noodle dish called pork meat noodle, with bittergourd. He chose the dry type for me, which the noodles would be stirred into their signature soy sauce. The soup served came with bittergourd, internal, pork slices and minced pork. Just the correct taste for a bowl of yummy pork noodle soup. Yums!

Dimsum

Another time, he so happened passed by a dimsum shop at the side of the road. Remembering me loving dimsum, he packed me three boingy fishballs, three siu mai, and two char-siu pao aka barbecued minced pork bun. Super calming to my soul after one challenging day.

Nasi Kandar

Then, another time he was at mamak so he packed for me 'nasi kandar', rice with variety of dishes for you to choose from plus variety of curry sauces. There was two fried chicken drumsticks and radish stir fry with mustard seeds, some turmeric and some herbs. Super appetizing. The curry was mixture of all curries; fish, chicken and beef. Lol. However, really super appetizing ya.

Pan fry chicken breast and eggs

He brought back some marinated chicken from his kitchen, and decided to be the chef of the night. He cooked for us super aromatic pan fry chicken breast marinated with turmeric powder and some seasoning. Super duper yummy! And the remainder oil he used for frying eggs making the eggs super flavorful. Yummy healthy dinner! Thank you, hubby.

Two Nescafe cans

And he bought back two Nescafe mocha drink because I needed to wake up in the middle of the night for tubefeeding too. My favourite is this purple one — Mocha! Anyone want to name your baby Mocha? 💜

Pork rice vermicelli soup

Lastly, I forgot to eat dinner just now because I was busy taking care two boys who are unwell. My eldest son also falls sick now — sore throat and stuffy nose. I was busy making sure the boys were separated, cleaning the house again and again in between the hourly tubefeeding. I also ensure both were fed well but I forgot to feed myself, only remember the Mocha! Husband packed back a pack of soupy rice vermicelli noodle, also with bittergourd in the soup, as well as pork slices and some internals. Yummy too!

I am grateful for a husband who remembers to buy food for me, otherwise he knows I am alright with bread and Milo, soda crackers with coffee, as well as instant noodles. I guess he wants me to eat properly too. Thank you, hubs! I pray my two boys quickly recover because I want to go out to watch Mission Impossible, haha!
