My Take On Manchester City Vs Arsenal Community Shield Match

Source

Arsenal beat Manchester City in a penalty shoot-out to win the community shield. It's the first trophy for the Gunners as the new season approaches and it's going to boost their confidence as they embark on the journey to win the Premier League title(if possible) and also compete in the champions league, but I doubt they will go far in the UCL competition.

In all honesty, I did not take the community shield match seriously because it does not prove anything. Before the last season began Liverpool faced Manchester City for the community and the Reds won the match. Haaland played badly and missed a huge opportunity to score which made the media doubt his capability. Some said he will be lucky to get 15 goals in the premier league, but they thought wrong and the rest is history.

Liverpool won the community shield but their season didn't turn out quite well as they failed to finish in the top four on the EPL table. The starting lineup for Manchester City was missing Kevin De Bruyne which was kind of strange to me because I was expecting Guardiola to use him since he has a good connection with Haaland and his passing skills can break through any strong defence.

Haaland's performance in the game was terrible. It was like he lost his edge and without De Bruyne on the field to give him does through pass brother was a ghost on the field. Pep Guardiola still shock me again when he brought in Kevin De Bruyne and took out Haaland from the match I was like what does he plan to achieve by subbing off Haaland.

The match took a new turn for City when De Bruyne came in but City was lacking a cutting edge which Haaland would have provided for them if he was still on the pitch. The game went into extra time and still, both sides failed to get a goal to unlevel the scoreline. The match went into penalties and Arsenal got the last laugh. Stefan Ortega Manchester City's goalkeeper was solid and I think he should be given minutes in the coming EPL season, he has a lot of potential to be a good goalkeeper in the future.

The new EPL season is starting on Friday, the long wait is finally over. Manchester City will take on Burnley which will be the opening match of the new season. Who do you think will win the 2023/2024 Premier League Title? For me I am choosing Manchester City and I am 100% sure they can do it again. So guys that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.

Your "analysis" doesn't actually analyze the match. It's basically a post that was designed to create excuses for Manchester City while ignoring everything Arsenal did in the game.

Arsenal had a lot more talking points than City;

  • Three new signings making competitive debut
  • Saliba returning from injury and pocketing Haaland
  • Havertz missing two tap ins
  • Timber looking like a man on a mission
  • Declan Rice's advanced role
  • Tactical switch that saw Havertz start as a false 9 and then drop to central midfield for Nketiah
  • Arsenal's ultra attacking 3-1-6 formation that led to the goal
  • Ramsdale saving yet another penalty.

For City, the major talking points were;

  • They jacked sharpness due to extended holiday
  • Kovacic relishing his new position
  • Alvarez looking helpless behind the striker
  • Cole Palmer shifting wide
  • KDB and Foden's link up play that caused their goal
  • Kyle Walker looking amazing and whether he will continue at City
