"Climate Crisis: Witnessing the Harsh Realities and Searching for Solutions"

Source

Yesterday, I saw a picture shared by football star Neymar about the current situation in Brazil, and looking at the pictures, it was terrible to see the catastrophic situation going on within the country. Brazil has been hit by a lot of rainfall and this has caused a rise in sea level which has flooded some parts of the country. The picture highlighted the areas before the flood and after the flood which made me feel sad for the people going through this disaster, their homes were displaced along with their properties and some lives were lost in the flood.

Nature can be brutal sometimes in different ways you can never imagine. It could be extreme heat waves, extreme cold weather, or even blocks of ice falling from the sky as a form of rain. There is no doubt that global warming is indeed real and that the weather has changed from what it used to be 100 years ago. It has been more brutal, and my only fear is that it will still get worse as time goes on, but what can we do to stop this harsh weather? There is a little we can do, and that is moving from energy that pollutes the environment to a more clean and environmentally friendly energy.

Steps are already being taken by top countries to convert into renewable energy. In Nigeria, the government of Lagos State has gotten electric buses for transportation, and although it's not enough, it is still a good step to start ushering clean energy into the country. Third-world countries have seen an increase in the use of electric cars and buses for both public and private usage and in 10 years, 90 per cent of people in third-world countries would have changed to electric cars or trucks.

Apart from the government helping in transforming countries to the green energy side we as citizens can do our best in little things that don't seem big but matters a lot and one of them is planting flowers and trees around our homes. Deforestation has taken a toll on the earth's ecosystem, and we all know the benefits of having trees around help give the environment clean and fresh air to breathe. Soil erosion is another problem that comes with deforestation, which is why regular flooding happens in the environment.

Flooding is not just happening in Brazil alone. The Middle East, East Africa, and other parts of Asia are experiencing immense flooding from rains during this period. There have been so many deaths already recorded from the flood and in East Africa the authorities have already warned that there will be more severe rainfalls and floods in weeks to come and have put a plan to evacuate citizens in the danger area of the coming rain. It is going to be a heavy month ahead, and there is no guarantee that normality will happen anytime soon.

It is going to be tough, and I wish the people affected by this disaster have the strength to pass through this tough time and hope for the best ahead. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good day.

Fire, drought and floods!

Before widespread human settlement began to encroach on the borders of South America’s Amazon forests, there was no such thing as an Amazon fire season. Now, fire may pose the biggest threat to the survival of the Amazon ecosystem.
