900m Walk From Our University To The Mall
Two weeks ago, we had a Thursday class that started at 9:30 AM. Our class is followed by a long break until our next subject at 1:30 PM, and what's mind-blowing is that it will only end at 7:00 PM. It was stressful and boring, considering we had a three-hour gap and my home was 16km away. Commuting was an option, but it was not worth it since it meant spending ₱160 or $2.87 just for transportation back and forth. And you know the solution to that problem? Well, let's find out!
Fifteen minutes before our class ended, I was able to connect and share random stories with some of my classmates. As mentioned in my previous article, I enrolled in Banking and Microfinance last year. But now that I'm already a sophomore, I decided to shift to Marketing since I want to connect with some of the friends I formed before, and also, it's relevant to the side hustles that I have today. We just talked about some things under the sun, and I invited my cousin to go to Waltermart to start our walking journey.
After the orientation, without hesitation, my cousin and I left the university to spend time at the mall. I assured him we wouldn't have to spend any money, as we planned to walk from AU to Waltermart. A program was held from that day, so an improvised stage was structured on the ground floor. Unfortunately, we haven't witnessed the whole event since we still had our first class. The audience at that time was dull, though.
If you get out of the university, you will be able to see this intersection. As you can see, there's another private university (STI) located on the left side, and we decided to turn even if there's a path to the right side (gas station) or go straight to the market. It is our stopover every time we commute from our home to school. Aside from that, it was way easier to memorize than other streets where you need to make a lot of turns. They are just alternatives, though.
While walking, I also got a chance to capture the public market of this city. It is the historical place where I decided on our group project, and good thing I thought about it since they won't give better recommendations without me. Well, I'm used to it. The temperature then was too hot that it almost burned my skin. Good thing I brought an umbrella for this 900m walk. Yes, you heard it right. We will trek 900m for this week's walk!
From trekking straight to 250 meters in San Jose Public Market, you will notice this grocery store of SM. Now, I already answered my question about why there's no Friendship store established in the city even though they are accessible in all parts of Nueva Ecija. On the other hand, I still don't have an idea why SM doesn't want to establish a mall in San Jose, as we are already tired from traveling for more than two hours to experience more prominent malls.
While walking, I can't help being fascinated by these faraway mountain ranges. I think it was the same mountain ranges I saw when we traveled from Pangasinan, though. I hope I can get a chance to step on a mountain soon! Those mountains from afar were too beautiful to resist taking a picture, and I humorously asked my cousin if we could get there by just walking directly. Of course, he said no since it was merely impossible.
We were already 190m away from Savemore when my cousin and I finally reached the PAG-ASA gym. If you have read my previous post about the parade, it is the place where we used to watch the dance competition and sports for the Foundation Day of the school. I thought we would use that as our field for our PE subject, though. That time was draining but overall worth it.
And ta-da, we finally reached the Waltermart San Jose after that scorching stroll for more than 900m. From the first photo, you will see that we walked for almost 1km. We crossed the pedestrian lane for safety, and I was excited to take pictures for remembrance!
I can only experience going to a mall once in a blue moon, so the refreshing air from the inside makes my excitement pours about. As you can see, my cousin opened his bag for security purposes while I tried my best to take photos swiftly.
I promised myself that we would only stay in the mall to kill time, so we decided to go upstairs and use that time to read the Wattpad books I had purchased. I hate the slow connectivity of Globe, so I can't say that I have done something productive. At least I was able to enjoy their free aircon without spending anything. I want to eat in a fast food chain but am in budget mode for my dream printer. Anyway, that's my entry for Wednesday's Walk!
