Rent A Girlfriend Review : A journey into Romance Anime.
Ever since I started watching anime, I've never thought of watching an anime about romance or relationships, not because I don't like it but because it has never caught my attention and my friends basically do not. So I decided to break the jinx (or whatever we can call it) and wanted to start one. So I went in search of one. Luckily for me, when I asked my friend, he said he watched one a long time ago and that he could share some with me, so I collected it.
I've heard about Rent-A-Girlfriend maybe a year ago. Well, people's reactions were a bit complex about this movie; some rated it highly, while others criticized the anime. So I would like to give my own.
Rent-A-Girlfriend (Japanese: 彼女、お借りします, Hepburn: Kanojo, Okarishimasu), abbreviated as Kanokari (かのかり), is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima. It has been serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine since July 2017, and has been compiled into thirty-six volumes as of April 2024. The series is licensed in North America by Kodansha USA, which released the first volume in English in June 2020. The series is licensed outside of Asia by Crunchyroll in the English speaking territories. Source
Rent a girlfriend is an anime about a young boy named Kazuya Kinoshita (a college student) and several girls surrounding him. Kazuya was first dumped by his girlfriend after dating for a month. Due to that, he was a bit depressed and found an app online that talks about renting a girlfriend for a fee (I don't know how much). So he decided to rent the beautiful girl known as Chizuru Mizuhara. On their first date , it went very well, even more than he had expected. It became too real to him, due to having a weak heart for love, it felt too real to him, making him feel fraustrated and thus, he decide to rate her low, which caused a rift between the two.
But things took a turn when he called her to meet his grandma at the hospital (who wanted his son to have a girlfriend and marry at a young age) and said he'd pay her, Due to meeting her, their relationship became complicated as more and more family members steps in. As the story went on, more rental girlfriends stepped in, as we saw the likes of Ruka Sarashina, Sumi Sakurasawa, and Mini Yaemori, which made the anime more interesting.
At the start of this anime, it gives an adolescent feeling; it is a feeling of high school boys and girls goofing around wanting to get boyfriends and girlfriends, which makes it interesting. It also gives a very peaceful environment, and you'll be happy with yourself watching that.
Along the line, though it's fun to watch because of all the dramas, I don't really like the plot of the anime, I started to feel somewhat unhappy with how the writer made the MC to be, At first, I was like, Renting a girlfriend is not bad, though, it's basically unrealistic to me, fine, but the fact that they are in the same environment, and he just keeps renting the same girl over and over again without confessing his feelings to her. It's somewhat weird to me. He is a very handsome young boy, who takes the hearts of other girls.
As for Chizuru, her personality is really complicated and unpredictable. Well, she is someone who strives to become a very better person, having difficult problems of her own, and due to certain circumstances, she decided to do different sorts of jobs, which make it look weird on the outside, but deeply, I can sense the reason behind that. But I would've loved the plot to go another way.
Apart from that, the animation is really simple, cool, and beautifully drawn, which I like very much. The sounds are indeed clear and okay. The music is okay, though I didn't take much notice of it, but, it's cool.
Though, I'm really unhappy about the plot and the main character, the whole play and drama is not bad; it is entertaining to watch, seeing how he acted and several turns of events that happened in the anime. It gives me a nostalgic feeling of high school. It is indeed not something I would recommend for someone just starting a relationship. But if you are interested in drama, entertainment and some romance, I would recommend it to you. So I give it a rating of 6/10.
That brings me to the end of my post. I really hope you enjoyed it. See you next time. Bye 👋.

All good @iam-siki! You're a real Hive pro! Onward to that new goal!
I skipped this series because it was getting mainstream hype and I just had an aversion to whatever mainstream was. But it's a nice review.
Oh, wow. It's totally understandable to steer clear of mainstream. At times, that happens to me. But it's not bad to give it a try, each and every one of us has different opinions about anime. It's okay though.
Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you very much 😀.

La animación se ve bonita, ciertamente un anime a considerar jeje, buena reseña!
The animation looks nice, certainly an anime to consider hehe, good review!
Yes, it looks nice. Everyone has their own views about anime. So if you watch it, you may even enjoy it more than me and give it a bigger rating.
Thanks
One of my favorite animes of the popular RomCom genre. I really like the characters, more than the story itself. You have very funny scenes, especially in the first season, which was the one that broke it quite a bit. The third season does have its good and emotional moments, but they always maintain the comedy rhythm at all times.
What I do dislike a little is how slow it is with respect to the relationship that is being presented to us, also that I have a kind of love/hate for the protagonist who always acts in certain ways but he ends up doing things well. Oh, and the high Fanservice it has, especially with Chizuru. But, for the rest, it is fun and entertaining to watch.
Your review is very good.
Yes indeed your are right, I loved that about it as well. I guess I'll have to watch some romance before I cam choose my best RomCom 😂😂. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate that alot.
Thanks mate 👍.
