Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Tips for Beginners
Hello all Splinterlands warlocks, I am excited to write here and participate in the Splinterlands weekly challenge. Today, I write to participate in the Splinterlands Social Media Weekly Challenge and for this week, we have the rebellion theme once again. So today, as the theme suggests we write and share tips for beginners, I think this a very good topic because there are a lot of Hivers out there trying to understand and play the game. Without much anticipation, I will set the ball rolling.
I will write and share a battle link where I will briefly explain to you guys how to play the game and also certain things you should note as a newbie. First of all, we need to understand that the Splinterlands game is a web3 blockchain game that is built on the Hive blockchain. You need to have a Hive account before you can hop onto this game. It is basically a card strategic game that involves players selecting cards and battling with opponents.
It is a play2earn game where one can earn a lot of rewards such as NFTs, DEC, SPS, Packs, and many more. To connect to the game, you only need 10$ to purchase the spellbook and then you will fully have access to the game. Once you purchase that, you will get the starter pack cards and also earn some Credits which you can use to rent cards to play battle.
Strategies that as a newbie you should consider include, renting cards from scratch when you don't have enough funds to purchase them. Make sure you read more about the rulesets and abilities of the game. I will take you through the how-to battle soon where you will understand much about what I am trying to mean.
Also, try to understand the levels in the game which include; novice, bronze, silver, gold, diamond, and champion. Each level has 3 sub-levels with the exception of the novice stage. Now let's look at the basics of combat in this game.
So there are two card types in this game: summoners and monsters. Summoners summon the monsters to battle and they give players the chance to select six monsters to a battle.
From the screenshot shown below, these are the elements that one can select the monsters from. There are six of them and they include; fire, water, earth, life, dragon, and death. Each of these elements has its own deck with a collection of specific cards.
So below are the card's basics, we have the card stats which include the attack ability of every monster. There are three different attacks of monsters and they are magic, range, and melee. The magic attack directly affects the health of other monsters. The mana cost indicates the mana that the monster will consume from the overall mana costs for a battle. Some monsters do have armor for protection and some also do have some special abilities.
These abilities can be shown here on the Splinterlands website as well, where you have the chance to read and learn more about each of those abilities.
There are a lot of these abilities, what I have indicated is just a few, you can visit the website for more. The Splinterlands has its own community on the Hive blockchain and also has a Discord server where you can ask for assistance and support. Check it out here: https://discord.gg/cy6DB3c7
I have also displayed a battle which I have the link shared here with you all. Battle link here If you would like to join the Splinterlands game; kindly click on this link here to join: https://splinterlands.com?ref=hungrywanderer
