"Exploring the Treasures of Castelvecchio Museum in Verona"
Hello friends of this fantastic community! It's always a pleasure to write here! Yesterday, which was Sunday, I took advantage of the beautiful day and wonderful weather to take a trip to Verona. I know I've talked to you about this city many times, but it's only about 25 km from my home, and every now and then, I like to pay it a visit. I consider it one of the most beautiful cities in Veneto and Italy, so I enjoy seeing how it evolves over time. With this summer continuing into October and temperatures almost reaching 30 degrees Celsius, these trips are even more appealing! The weather was perfect! The first place I visited was Castelvecchio and its museum, a must-visit if you're in Verona. It's a museum I've been to several times since childhood, and I love it more and more. In fact, it's one of the most important museums, located inside the castle built in the fourteenth century by the famous Scaligeri family. The museum is primarily dedicated to Italian and European art and houses sculptures, paintings, ancient weapons, and ceramics. It underwent a significant restoration in the early 1960s, led by the famous architect Carlo Scarpa, who helped modernize this place. By the way, if you happen to be in Venice, I invite you to visit the Olivetti store in Piazza San Marco, also designed by Scarpa. This castle went through various transformations over the years, even becoming a military barracks at one point. However, in 1923, this significant castle located practically in the center of Verona became a museum. It gained some notoriety a few years ago due to a significant theft by someone who was supposed to be guarding the museum, but fortunately, the paintings were later recovered. One of the most beautiful things to do inside this museum is to exit the exhibition area, divided into several sections, and walk along the ramparts. From here, you have a beautiful view of the city of Verona, with a special view of the Castelvecchio Bridge and the Adige River. It's one of the few opportunities, apart from the Lamberti Tower, to see the city from above. The ticket price is reasonable in my opinion, €6 for adults, but there are various discounts for groups and those over 60, with a reduced ticket price of €4.50. I always recommend checking the official museum website for updated ticket prices and various reductions. Additionally, with the entrance ticket to this museum, you can get a combined ticket with the Museo Maffeiano for just one euro more. I'll talk about it in detail in another post about this interesting museum located in the center of Verona, which, in my opinion, is definitely worth a visit. I hope my photos have given you a taste of how fascinating this museum is and have encouraged you to visit it. It's definitely a place not to be missed if you're planning a visit to Verona. Thanks for reading, until next time!!! The official website of the Castelvecchio Museum is https://museodicastelvecchio.comune.verona.it/.
