Autumn Hike on Mount Baldo: Foggy Landscapes on the Way to the Summit
I hope you are all doing well. In today's post, I wanted to share an experience I had yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, there was a lot of bad weather in the morning in my area, so I decided to go for my usual afternoon hike, even though I usually prefer to go out early in the morning. I wanted to go for a beautiful walk that started from the village of San Zeno di Montagna and led to the summit of Mount Baldo, a mountain near Lake Garda. The intention was to reach the summit and return before it got dark because the area is a bit dangerous due to the presence of numerous wolf packs that have been recently spotted there. I also wanted to see the new cable car that takes you to the top of Mount Baldo, which was inaugurated this year. At the beginning, we hoped to see some foliage, as this is the season for it, but we know that as we gain altitude, there are fewer forests along the way. In fact, apart from the initial part where I walked through a small forest, there were very few trees, as you can see from the photos. Unfortunately, when I reached the top, the fog obstructed the beautiful panoramic view of the area, probably due to the morning's bad weather. Otherwise, from up there, you would have a magnificent view of Lake Garda. I made it to the Fiori del Baldo refuge, which fortunately is still open during this season, and it can be a lifesaver, especially for hiking enthusiasts. I had a nice coffee break and made use of the restroom. In the refuge's parking area, there are several wooden sculptures donated, I believe, by various local sculptors, which are quite interesting. The atmosphere with the fog covering the road and mountain peaks was also quite beautiful. From there, I took the cable car to go back down because I didn't want to find myself halfway in complete darkness, even though I always carry a flashlight with me. I find it very enjoyable to hike during the week because I encountered only a few people in this area, which is a great way to connect with the surrounding nature. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I hope you found my story interesting and enjoyed the photos I took. I can't wait to post again and have you here!
