World Seven Series - Los Pumas (SPA - ENG)
El rugby de 7 jugadores está creciendo a pasos agigantados, no conozco el motivo real, aunque supongo que es debido a que es más dinámico y quizás más atractivo a los ojos del espectador que el tradicional juego de 15 oponentes por bando que en ocasiones se hace trabado y lento, aunque ciertamente muy estratégico.
Es un juego probablemente más divertido debido a la facilidad para marcar puntos y aunque las reglas son básicamente las mismas, es totalmente distinto al tradicional, el campo de similares dimensiones no puede ser totalmente cubierto y eso posibilita que los jugadores en ataque se puedan escapar y anotar con mayor facilidad, por el contrario, para quien defiende hay mucho terreno por cubrir y eso lo hace más dificultoso.
El estado físico de los jugadores es fundamental para soportar un desgaste excesivo, es por ello que el tiempo de juego es muy inferior y no se ven aquí jugadores tan robustos como si se los aprecia en la otra modalidad.
Como sea, ha sido aceptado con gran éxito en el exigente ambiente del rugby y por ello es que hay un circuito internacional que crece día a día y cuyo prestigio no se queda atrás.
En los últimos tiempos el equipo argentino de varones está atravesando un período excepcional y el año anterior finalizó segundo en el circuito llamado Word Seven Series solo por detrás de Nueva Zelanda y por delante de Fiyi, Francia y Australia.
Esta nueva temporada muestra al equipo argentino en el tope de la tabla anual habiendo ganado 3 de las 4 fechas disputadas (Ciudad del Cabo, Perth y Vancouver) con un segundo puesto en la primera fecha del torneo disputada en Dubái.
Restan disputarse otras 4 fechas (Los Ángeles, Hong Kong, Singapur y Madrid) y todo indica que, de seguir por este camino, el título para nuestro equipo nacional no se escapará, con 78 puntos obtenidos le lleva 24 de diferencia en la tabla general a dos fuertes equipos que son Fiyi e Irlanda y 28 a Nueva Zelanda, el campeón defensor.
También se disputa el Word Seven Series de mujeres que se desarrolla simultáneamente y en las mismas sedes que el de varones, en este torneo femenino Australia lidera la clasificación con 72 puntos producto de 2 triunfos, un segundo y un cuarto puesto, seguido por Nueva Zelanda con 66 y Francia con 62.
Como se puede observar, los países que predominan históricamente el rugby tradicional también lo están haciendo en el seven.
Los mantendré informados sobre este torneo que como dije anteriormente, está creciendo fuertemente en la oferta de espectáculos deportivos internacionales.

Me gusta mucho más ésta modalidad del rugby...la verdad, me aburre la modalidad tradicional dada la defensa entreverada de ambos bandos.
Es un deporte exigente y más aún en la modalidad sobre la cual escribes, espero que "Los Pumas" alcancen el título.

A mi también me gusta esta modalidad aunque no se si más que la tradicional. No es uno de mis deportes favoritos así que no me puedo decidir por una de las dos.
Respecto a Los Pumas, la diferencia que han conseguido es grande pero hay enormes competidores, tendremos que esperar.
