Este mundial Sub 20 no deja de sorprendernos en cuanto a resultados y funcionamiento de los equipos que están participando en el.
A la eliminación temprana de Francia se sumó el contundente triunfo en el partido inaugural de Italia sobre Brasil, luego con el correr de los encuentros y ya en octavos de final ocurrió la inesperada derrota de Argentina a manos de Nigeria y la derrota de Ecuador frente a Corea del Sur, ambos resultados no estaban en los cálculos de la mayoría, no al menos por antecedentes y tampoco por el funcionamiento. Salvo Nigeria que había participado del grupo más competitivo junto a Brasil e Italia habiendo empatado en puntos con los otros dos, solo quedo relegado al tercer puesto por diferencia de gol, había mostrado un buen funcionamiento y principalmente sorprendió su gran fortaleza física. Como en todos los mundiales este y otros conjuntos africanos son sospechados de incluir jugadores de más edad, no se si se ha comprobado en alguna ocasión pero es evidente en muchos casos que superan en capacidades físicas a la mayoría de los rivales. No es excusa y Argentina jugó bastante bien aunque no pudo definir el encuentro en forma temprana y como dije, el estado y fortaleza física de los nigerianos se impuso sobre el final.
Ayer otro estrepitoso fracaso, Brasil cayó 3 a 2 ante Israel, un conjunto sin demasiados antecedentes que en fase de grupos no había demostrado nada demasiado significativo, por el contrario tuvo una clasificación complicada habiendo perdido con Colombia y luego empatando con Senegal, su único triunfo en esa primera fase fue ante Japón. Los brasileños aun se están preguntando que pasó porque no lo pueden entender. En el tiempo reglamentario fue empate 1 a 1 pero en el alargue los israelíes impusieron su mejor estado físico y también marcaron diferencias en lo futbolístico y en el pequeño estado israelí ya hablan de la mayor hazaña en la historia deportiva del país.
En el otro encuentro programado para ayer Italia venció con total justicia a Colombia y pese a mi simpatía por el conjunto sudamericano, no puedo dejar de reconocer la superioridad del conjunto italiano que se impuso con autoridad por 3 a 1.
Ho será el turno de los dos encuentros restantes que definirán a los semifinalistas, Corea del Sur enfrentará a Nigeria y Estados Unidos hará lo propio con Uruguay, el único representante de América Latina que queda en competencia.
Veremos que ocurre y espero que Uruguay saque una vez más la clásica garra charrúa porque el encuentro en la previa se le presenta complicado. Mientras tanto Nigeria es el favorito para el pase a las semifinales.
Una vez resueltos estos encuentros deberemos esperar hasta el jueves para la disputa de las dos semifinales y el domingo 11/6 conoceremos al nuevo campeón mundial de la categoría.

Brazilians are still wondering what happened because they can't understand it. In regulation time it was a 1-1 tie but in the extra time the Israelis imposed their best physical condition and also made a difference in football and in the small Israeli state they are already talking about the greatest feat in the country's sports history.
In the other game scheduled for yesterday, Italy fairly defeated Colombia. Despite my sympathy for the South American team, I cannot fail to recognize the superiority of the Italian team that prevailed with authority 3-1.

Ayer pude ver ese juego y me sorprendió el pobre nivel defensivo de Brasil y la calidad mental y de actitud de Israel.
Israel nunca temió y sabía que estaba frente una gran posibilidad de hacer historia en esa categoría y por eso jugaron sin ningún miedo hacia su rival; ahora le voy a decir algo, cuando ví que Israel no aprovechó las dos oportunidades con los dos penales de manera consecutiva, me reí tanto que esperaba que los brasileños anotaran hasta cinco goles.
Yo tuve el mismo presentimiento, por suerte nos equivocamos!!
