THE UNLIKELY CELEBRITY

During my high school days, I was quite popular and that was because I’m someone that enjoys interacting with people although, I happen to be this shy time. Strange right? Well, I only get to break out of that box of shyness when I’m comfortable around the people I’m with. I made a lot of friends and acquaintances and that was because I was a really fast writer on the chalkboard. Teachers got to know about this and that was how my popularity grew.

Due to the fact that most teachers gave me their books to write on the board for every one to get a copy, usually, they also allow me go home with their lesson notes so I can also update my note too. I had fun while at it and due to how fast I was and how small the chalkboard is, I had to wipe the board most times even when some persons were still copying from that part. This made some people nicknamed me “Computer and machine”, lol.

Sometimes I feel for them but then, the teacher will always want us to write as fast as possible because as they always say, we have so much to cover. I had few haters because of what I did and that made me grew even more popular in school. I wasn’t only popular among my classmates, but also among my seniors and juniors too because most of my classmates kept calling me machine or computer and that drew others attention towards me really quickly.

I actually started writing on the board since I was in junior secondary school and before I finished high school, most people already knew me but then, that was all that there was to it. I enjoyed writing and that was because I realized that I learnt faster while doing that. So basically, I enjoyed it and it was interesting how that made me a popular person back in high school.

I attended a public school, so we had quite a population. Besides the fact that I write fast and well, I also got to be friends with people who are also well known in school and that also made me popular. At my final year in high school, I was made a lab prefect and that also made me even more popular. And funny enough, it got to a point where I could just be on the street walking and I would hear someone calling my name only for me to check who it is and realize it’s a new face. The person knows me but I haven’t even seen his or her face before.

Sometimes I wonder why they called me but then, I guess they just didn’t want me to feel like they ignored me, just incase I knew them. Well, for what it was worth, I was happy by the popularity I gained back in high school, it helped me overcame being shy to a certain degree and that also made me discover that I have so many things I was capable of.
