MY SANCTUARY

I always feel everything will be a lot easier for me if everyday was going to be a Sunday for me. I love Sundays for so many reasons. It is one of those days that rewinding just comes really easily for me. I had a really busy week in the past week and I’m so happy that I have finally started a new one. Sundays give me the opportunity to pause, evaluate and reevaluate. In our world filled with constant reasons to be worried, anxious and depressed, I can’t help but always look forward to the start of a new week because it renews my strength.

For me, Sunday is my favorite day for letting things go at my pace because it seems like it is the same for others as well. I get more time to myself doing the things I want to do at my own time. The fact that others also see Sunday as a day for rewinding, has given me an opportunity to also use this day to shut out the many noise from different angles. Personally, I don’t really enjoy anything extravagant, it’s tiring and strength draining. Sometimes I wonder where some persons gets the energy to party at least once every week not to mention those that party more than once in a week.

My Sunday is made beautiful because I get to meet with people of like minds. It is a day I get the worship the one who has made me in spirit and in truth. Not just that, I’m also reminded of how he died for me and how I can live a better life, not just for myself but for every one I ever come to know. Sunday is also that day when I get the opportunity to rest well to my heart’s content, chat with friends and also plan for the week ahead. I love staying at home and Sunday is one particular day I most times get to spend in my room especially when I’m in school.

By doing all of these things, I just feel this calmness deep within me and the strength to just keep going even when the going gets hard. My life right now keeps getting to that point when I worry so much and overthink things but the best way I keep my head above water is through faith and trust in God. I have tried a lot of times to do it all by myself in the past and failed but not anymore. Now, even before the noise starts showing up, I pray and then do my best while believing in God to do the rest.

The world is going to keep moving fast and no matter how we try to stay afloat, without having a firm rock to stand on, the toss of the sea will most likely sweep you off our feet. Holding onto God who is unchanging in this ever changing world, is my own way of unwinding and that is why Sundays are the best and I love that I start my new week with it. It is definitely going to get hard but overcoming that hardship has been really bearable because I have found a friend in the one that has made me.

Having a friend to always share my thoughts and problems with, that already knows everything even before I start sharing is a blessing. Now I wade off things that tries to keep me on my toes by just a simple communication with that friend. I still have those worried every now and then but I don’t respond to its tune, I somehow always find a way to do the opposite. Sundays give me the opportunity to hear something more from God’s word and that is in itself a booster.
