MY PREFERRED METHOD OF SHOPPING

avatar

Shopping is something that we as humans have to do almost on a daily basis and that is because we run into needs and wants almost every day. In my own terms I will say shopping is basically buying of goods and the two major ways of shopping are online and offline shopping and just like the name implies, online shopping is the act of purchasing what ever you need without physically seeing or feeling them while offline shopping is the act of buying of your goods from a place where you get to see and have a feel of what you want to purchase.

My definition is not exactly how you should define it but I'm sure it will give you an insight of what the different shopping options are

Offline shopping has been there forever if I should say that, because it was the way our ancestors traded back then and even now we still buy and sell that way and I think one of the reasons for that is that it has stood the test of time. Personally I do prefer offline shopping and I guess that is because I'm already used to it. I can't say I prefer offline shopping because I think it's the best, no, it's far from it. There this feeling of satisfaction that comes with offline shopping because you get to see, feel, negotiate and if possible try what you want to buy before paying for it.

In online shopping, you are buying blindly, you only get to see a picture of what you want and if your sees it as something good, you will then purchase it after seeing or getting the price tag. It is actually fun to buy online but then it is hard to get what you actually ordered for most of the time especially here in my country. Online shopping here in Nigeria is something that so many people have complained about for one reason or another, I've seen only few people that are satisfied by purchasing goods online.

For offline shopping, I don't like it for many reasons, like, if I want something and I go to my local market to get that particular thing, I won't be surprised to return home with it's look alike even though they are not even alike, lol. First of all, the risk of transportation is there, then the stress of looking for exactly what you want to buy and finally getting to negotiate the price of what you want, you might just end up buying something else or not even buying again and at this point, so many people will resort to purchasing online shopping.
20220723_162034_0000.png

The both methods of shopping has their own advantages and disadvantages and for me I normally make use of the two as the case may be. But first I go for offline shopping first and if I don't find the exact thing I want, I will result to shopping for that product online if it's available there. I've had so many poor experiences of purchasing things online and also offline but despite that I guess it won't stop anyone from purchasing something, whether online or offline, we just have to manage until necessary improvements are made.
20220723_162034_0000.png

If only the online shopping was reliable, I won't think twice before patronizing from them but then here in Nigeria it is a very poor experience and I won't advise anyone to go for it because most times what you ordered is not what you get and if you try returning it, you might just give up again because that is another stress on it's own. So for now, I will go for the traditional way of buying things while I hope that the online traders look for a good way to make things more efficient and reliable.

Until next time, stay AWESOME!!!

You're right. Offline and online shopping has their advantages and disadvantages. It depends on your situation or what's more sufficient for your circumstance. If online shopping is not that trusted, better not to order from them again. Offline shopping is still better then.

Exactly! I will always prefer offline shopping to online shopping until they come up with a better way to get things done.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comment Mayt, have a great day!

Well, in as much as there are those with poor experiences, there are also those with better better experience of online shopping.

It is always important to check out the reviews on the item and the seller sha before you buy.

But my own is that anything consining electronics or big money some thing, I no dey buy online oooo...

Reviews are not always accurate bro...
It's a 50/50 chance...

There are reviews and there are reviews. There is a science to understanding how it works and how to get the best out of online shopping.

The first part is to believe that all reviews are scam 😅 if there are live images or photo of product received, it can help "reduce" the scam level.

Let me use Jumia as an example...

Most products Jumia sell aren't owned by Jumia, instead There are some registered shop outlets that feed Jumia with some products. So when you want to purchase.. you not only check the reviews of that product... you also check the brand or shop outlet reputation and general review....

It can help reduce the scam level or distrust when you understand them better.

However, like I said.... I no dey use am buy big big things 😅😅😅

I've gotten some small items from Ali-express (China shipping) and I haven't complained about any item I purchased.

Omo, na to copy wetin I write here use as post... make una no vex oooo... na still me be the author 😅😅😅

Of course, I said that they all have advantages and disadvantages but whether you like it or not the disadvantages of online shopping in Nigeria is more compared to it's advantages and that doesn't change the fact that we won't still patronize online shops, hehe

The reviews are one then your instinct 😁.

Issorite, we are learning 🤓.

but whether you like it or not the disadvantages of online shopping in Nigeria is more compared to it's advantages

Clearly, this isn't the case. It is more of 50/50 and to an extent you may even get quality product as compared to when you purchase offline.

Imagine when you go to Computer Village, Ikeja to buy a good product. If you do not know a good dealer, you are faced with the stress of moving up and down to get a good product. At the end of the day, if you aren't knowledgeable enough, you may get scammed.

I can decide to go to a verified Samsung store online to and order for an amazing Samsung phone and it will be delivered to my house.

Easy peasy!

Which do you think is advantageous over the other, except in terms of price??? And that reminds me, I can do it at my convinence and any time... it will be delivered to me.

The problem is that many people go for N50 product and expect 1million quality. If you want to enjoy online shopping then if you have money you can purchase directly from the store and they'll waybill it to you.

Sometimes, you'd discover that they aren't as expensive as you thought.

Because many people don't understand online shopping and people who don't understand make use of it, that's why you have bad experiences.

Just as some people can't use web to get information, they think the info isn't online.

People have their different perception on the use of the Internet to do things.

The same way as people still imagine that making money via the Internet is scam and impossible, except when you do Yahoo Yahoo.

BUT HOPE IS ON HIVE CASHING OUT!!! 🙃

All these ones you are talking are correct but that doesn't make it the best just as physical shopping is still not the best, they both need improvements but I will go for physical shopping because I already know it's easier for me to return it. I also buy things online too but that's if I don't see what I want offline.

Like I said, physical shopping is stressful and I'm going for it because it's what I'm used to.

Like I said, physical shopping is stressful and I'm going for it because it's what I'm used to.

Exactly, this should be your conclusion not that Online shopping is more disadvantageous.

Is Hope not making money online??? And cashing out big big???

That's how some people will say online making money is disadvantageous....

But when you explain.. they'll end up saying, I understand... but I prefer offline making money.

That should be the conclusion... its what you prefer 🥰

Exactly! All of these points are mine so I can conclude it as I feel, it must not be the same for the next person 🥰. For those that online shopping favors, good for them and I'm even jealous sef, lol

And, I also didn't say online shopping is the best....

All I'm saying is that it isn't more disadvantageous 🥰

Wow, well like you've been saying, it's obvious you have more experience in it but since I don't I see it as more disadvantageous, hehe. Well, since we get satisfied whether online or physical then it's fine.

Haha even I think I'm choosing physical shopping not because it is the best form of shopping but because it is what I have grown to know how to do better.

And like you said, this country is not even helping me get in the habit of online shopping... E go hard 🤧

The most important thing between the two is that "We find satisfaction" and I'm going for that, wherever I find it.

Hmmmm you have literally analysed what both of them have in difference and how important physical shopping is but it has some known disadvantages to it but the fact still remains it is better than online shop because it is not reliable ..

The only reason I went for physical shopping is because it is what I'm used to, the stress is just too much abeg. Well I still buy online when necessary so it's all good, hehe

Yep online shopping might be what you like because that’s what you are used to. We might even say you prefer it because that’s what you were introduced to first.

With only shopping I’ve had a lot of people complain that it was not what they ordered. I think online shopping is good for certain products and when you don’t really know what you want too. If you want something specific I think it’s always better to go to the market.

Well, not for me. I prefer sitting at home and ordering what ever I want. The hustle of having to roam the whole market for a few items is not for me 😂. I get tired when I spend even 30 minutes in the market. I prefer online cause I can be lazy and get what I want

You are right, shopping online makes life easy and helps save time and effort too. You live in Ghana right? I'm sure the online service there is a lot better than the ones we have in Nigeria.

Yep I live in Ghana. It kindda depends on the vendor you get. No matter how good it is a lot of people still get duped.

Good post ! The business I own is based on online retail, so I can definitely see both the advantages and disadvantages.

It definitely needs every part of the process to work smoothly - the actual website, the payment systems, the courier or postal service (which needs to be seriously reliable and honest !), and the processes to avoid fraud and solve problems if something goes wrong.

Here in the UK, most of that is well developed and customers generally understand the process. I'd say online works very well if you are buying an uncomplicated product or one you are already familiar with (often from a known and trusted brand), but less well with customised or perishable goods, or ones which rely on sizing to fit.

Wow, that's so cool, I'm sure it's way better there than here. I'd love online shopping if I was in the UK but not Nigeria, it has serious trust issues 😅.

Thank you so much for your contribution and tips, I will keep them in mind when I want to patronize online next time, 🥰

For me, apart from the stress of getting products that might be scarce, physical shopping takes it for me and this because of the satisfaction and durability I'll derive, online shopping in Nigeria has bigger disadvantages.

I just pray they improve soon, I'm tired of stressing myself every time going to the market for almost everything 🤓

Online shopping is like black market anything you see inside you just have to accept it like that because am sure they won't refund your money

So it is either you get what you ordered or you don't that is how online shopping works

avatar

Exactly, it's as if it's by force to buy the rubbish some sell. Those people that have good experience of online shopping in happy for them oo, but I don't think I will be having that experience soon because my place is far from most of these online shopping delivery centers.

The delivery infrastructure is probably what's holding back the online shopping experience in Nigeria. Once that's sorted out, more online shops will pop up and the experience will improve.

Exactly! The roads are bad and humans are also selfish, the two combined is a really big problem for online shopping.

There are things to consider in online shopping.. But it is still much better to buy in stores.. You can choose what you really want and those with good quality..

Of course it is better for those in the western world but in Nigeria? I won't advise anyone to do it except they have good knowledge about it.

I'm speaking based on my experience here in my country but then I do know how convenient it can be outside my country, hehe
