Customers are always right is something that I don't really buy sometimes because I've been a victim of being in the position to render a service and I met a customer that made me almost hate my day but then my boss was understanding after all. Most customers have this notion that since they are customers they have the right to make mistakes and not apologize but still claim to be in the right.

About one year ago I was privileged to work as a laundry personnel and you know in such a business you get to see different types of people, some those who are kind and always satisfied, some that are not always satisfied and many more. When I started working there, I tried to learn from my boss because I wasn't so good at ironing clothes, I only did more of washing, but with time I was able to learn how to also press clothes. I was happy I was now getting good at what I do but then my boss started leaving most of the work to me even when he was super good at it than me.

Although he did that because we were just starting at that location and there was not so many people patronizing us, but in less than three months almost everyone in that vicinity knew we existed and we started getting more customers and it kept increasing. My boss had another job he does which was a contract job so sometimes he might only be around for three days so what I do is I wash the clothes and leave the ones that are not urgent for him to press. It was not still easy but it worked for sometime, we were able to satisfy most of our customers although not all because we didn't keep to our words of delivering the time we promised.

Due to the fact that we are having more customers we started having so many people getting angry for no reason. We always give every customer a time to come back to get their clothes but then there was this particular customer who will never tell us when he is coming to get his clothes, he just says we should get them ready as soon as possible. But as you know, since we had others who gave us an actual date, we focused more on those ones.

So one day this customer came to get his clothes on a Saturday morning because he had planned using it for a ceremony that day. When he came, we had about two of his clothes that were ready but somehow he said he wanted the one that was yet to be washed. He started complaining about our services but then my boss made him understood that he never told us which of his clothes to get ready and that was why we just did those two but then he became angry and he just collected one and left after saying some annoying words and feeling he was correct and not ready to listen to us.

Well, in this situation I agree we were at fault because it was actually our job to get the clothes ready but then we weren't given any deadline for us to get his clothes ready and he was furious about it and you know the good part, he still came back and tried to apologize because he loved how we rendered our services. So for this type of customers, I might agree that customers are always right but then it is not as easy as it sounds.

You will always buy the idea of customers are always right until you are in that position to render services, I also believed this strongly until I was asked to manage my mom's shop. Omo people are annoying.

Hahaha, you Gerrit lol, it's not easy at all, I was surprised I only had issues with just few people there sef, but that's because I try to know that customers should always be right 😒.

If you need the clothes urgently take them to a different place ehh. In some situations your boss should have advised him to go to a different place since he doesn’t like giving you dates or a specific time.

If it were me I won’t care about the money, I will advice him to use a different place to avoid all the drama he pulled up at your shop. You are a customer doesn’t always mean you are right.

My dad owns a shop so sometimes when someone comes around to buy something which we don’t have I advice the people to look elsewhere, sometimes the customer wants to buy something similar but to prevent him bringing it back or him thinking because of the money I will sell anything to him I allow them go with their money and we are drama free.

I get your point but then we weren't doing that for just the money because he was even part of those that were not paying well but we did that for our name in the vicinity. The person in question was someone that was kind of influential and you know someone like that can spoil a business name and he also came to apologize the following day.

Yes there are some we just have to let go because they are up for no good at all.

Mostly some one who knows he/she has influence can easily do something cause she knows you can’t do anything to her. Well it’s good you read the room early enough 😂.

So, you even worked as a dry cleaner? Interesting!
That job is a tough one. My aunt was a dry cleaner and I spent more than 10 years living with her and I must say that work is a rigorous one and so many times, we have encountered all kinds of customers that most will give you frustration but as kind as my aunt was because I wasn´t, except for few who decides to cooperate 😂she knows how to handle them.

There was a day one of my customer´s side chick slapped my face and when the issue was heard, she was at fault and they told her to apologize, she didn´t oo because she saw me as a young girl then.

So many things we have seen from them but we just have to handle them so we do not lose them. To me, though customers are always right, but not in every situation but one has to deal and thread gently with them. Without them, there is no business and without the business, they will not put on fine clothes na 🤣🤣 So all work together for both.

That's it oo my sister, it's just because of long term plans that we allow most of this customers do what they want to but then there are some that we just have to let go sometimes and pray others come.

You own experience was a clear case of the fact that you were a little girl then off not that customer would have thought twice.

Yes, the best customer will always come while the frustrating ones will leave. We don´t mind losing such people to get better ones.

Some customers can frustrate ehn... But then, as one who render services we need to be patient, imagine the same customer that was ranting came back to apologize.
If you say customers are always right, I would admit to some extent lol.

Hahaha, well they are to some extent but that doesn't mean they are never wrong, in fact they are mostly guilty but then, because of our goals we just have to let go.

Hmm, Some customers sha... How could you be collecting your clothes on the day you need them? That's not very organized. In as much as the laundry should've had his clothes ready, the customer is clearly at fault for not being specific on the timeframe.

Dealing with customers isn't easy and I must commend your boss for being so tactful.

I can just imagine how stressful it must've been to work at a laundromat. You're really hardworking, hope! 💕
