CHANGE YOUR STYLE
Hello beautiful needleworkers, it’s another day to get creative and today I will be sharing something nice with us and I hope you don’t mind staying to the end. I shared my first ever post to the community some weeks ago and I promised to share some more but I thought of taking my time Which I did so I can make sure I do better.
So without further ado, today I’d be sharing with you all how I transformed a dress that was gifted to me. I’m a slim person but I got a dress from someone way bigger than me but then I loved the dress and the color is one that I won’t ever want to get myself so I decided to work on it instead since I was at my sister’s house where I have access to a sewing machine.
Things you’d likely need for an amendment as mine:
Razor blade
Scissors
Sewing Machine
Iron (optional)
Tape
I quickly hopped on the dress to get it to my size, hehe. The first thing I did was to loose out the flare at the bottom of the skirt since it was majorly the skirt I had issues with. I did that for some minutes and then I went ahead to also take off the band from the waist too. After I was done loosing everything that needed to be loosed, I had to take the measurements of my body and then do the same on the skirt.
Before adding the flare back to the skirt, I had to reduced the length because it was too long for me. I did that and I was this close to spoiling everything because I mixed the calculations up in my head.
After that I added the flare back to the bottom of the skirt but I made a mistake the first time and I had to loose it again. At this point I almost gave up but I couldn’t, hehe I was curious of what I’d create at the end.
After adding the flare, I went ahead to put in the elastic at the band but I also encountered a challenge here which was even more frustrating but I still didn’t give up, I just kept trying, making mistakes and getting it right. I didn’t really get it all right in the end but it was manageable so I had to move to the next step which is reducing the sides. This part was the simplest for me, hehe.
I finally got something that looks nice and this is how it looks on me when I tried it on. I loved it and I was proud of myself for not giving up. Once I was satisfied with the skirt, I quickly moved to amending the top. The only thing I didn’t like with the top was the hand.
So the first thing I did was to loose out both hands of the top and then I sewed it back together without putting any prints in it. It came out nice as you can see in the gif below, hehe. I made sure to give it a good ironing to bring out the beauty more and it worked just as I wanted it.
So what do you think? Would you have thrown away this dress if you discovered it wasn’t your size or would you have adjusted it to your size? Let’s know at the comment section.
