BEYOND THE SURFACE

Life is a school of its own, I’m sure this is not the first time you’ve heard it or you’ve thought about it. The difference we have as humans, most times we see it as a curse but then, I have come to realize that it is one of those blessings in disguise. There are some things that some persons find so hard to do but then it comes so easily for another. Just like we have in the world today, there are so many professions that stand against the wrongs in our society, making sure that those who are found guilty will be punished accordingly.

As humans, most of us, if not all of us are emotional beings and most times we make some decisions based on emotions and not as it should be. When we are faced with some situations, we get clouded by emotions and it affects us in giving an accurate judgement but then, due to the fact that we all do not go through the same tough times, that helps us to put some things in check. For instance, if a person lost his or family to death in the hands of a murder, most times, that person might want or choose to do something that on a normal day he or she would never do and that is taking the life of the murderer wnd becoming a murderer themselves.

Or when a person gets the opportunity to power and wealth, sometimes they become something that they also don’t know. This mostly happens because of how much they’ve been dealt with by poverty and because they don’t want this new life to end, they are willing to do anything just to maintain that life. The truth is, we can never fully understand the reason why a person does anything they do until we find ourselves in that exact situation which is not most times going to happen.

Recently, I was talking with someone really close to me and we talked about a few things about trying to make judgement about a person just based on what we see. And the truth is, as humans, it is so easy for us to make decisions based on what we see, hear and do. Personally, I got to find out after that discussion how much I’m quick to judge a person, when in the real sense I’m not in that position to do that. When we see something that is wrong or right, we should never be quick to draw a conclusion.

Someone once said, the more you look, the less you see. Just when you think you are understanding something very well, it will surprise you to know that you are only accepting the ideas you have formed about that person over a long period of time. When you see someone in a certain way, you keep looking out for that particular trait in them waiting for them to exhibit it so you can confirm whatever it is you’ve also thought about them.

This is one reason why it is always good to confront people with what you think about them, but in a positive way so you can save yourself from saving up the wrong ideas about them. This is going to be hard because these days, some persons we judge don’t even care anymore, they just leave you to whatever you want to think about them. This is a big challenge for us as humans today but then, no one even cares about it because they don’t even see that as a problem in the first place.

When we let our emotions always get the best part of us, we will never know the importance of forgiving someone their wrongs against us, whether or not they are sorry. When we let our emotions cloud our judgement, we will never get to see our wrongs but we will always clearly see the wrong of someone else. My advice to myself and anyone that gets to read this is, we should always make conscious efforts to keep a default mindset on things and people. We have limited things we can know about a person, whether be it good or bad, so we should always keep a default mindset as much as possible.

When you always find it easy to judge others and even place a judgement on them, try doing that to yourself also and see how you will feel. Then and only then, you will be able to start giving a better judgment because you also want a better judgement. All of these still boils down to the passage of the Bible that says, do unto others what you want them to do to you.

Thanks for reading through ❤️.

Experience change people. It's not in our place to judge people because we've never walked in their shoes before.

Before now, I've known myself to be quick in judging others based on how they look and what I've heard about them from others, but then that is wrong; you are very correct; we shouldn't be quick to judge others when we don't even know them.

The beautiful thing is, most of us know that it is not good to judge others based on what we think or see but sadly we still find ourselves judging others.

We can only keep encouraging ourselves to do better

Wise. We all think of ourselves as better and holier-than-thou.

I was telling someone a few days ago about this mantra in my my local dialect that goes something along the lines of "who it hasn't reached yet, thinks he is a man". It's very easy to say "can not be me", until it's actually you. I've seen people judge and shame other people for things that we later discover even they are guilty of. It's very important to keep an open mind when it comes to life and how it works because we're all going to be tested. It can always be you, and just because it isn't yet, doesn't mean it can never be.

You’ve spoken well Hamza, it is only when we wear a shoe we can truly know where it hurts.

Thanks for stopping by 🤗
