Village Roast Duck XO sauce fried beef with chives set lunch
Today, for lunch, I revisited Village Roast Duck, a Cantonese restaurant located at the Pavillion KL Mall, to try another dish from their lunch set.
As you enter the restaurant, you’re greeted by a spacious and modern interior. Light wooden furniture dominates the space, paired with a striking ceiling design that adds a touch of architectural flair. The warm wooden panels and subtle dividers provide just the right amount of privacy without compromising the open, airy feel of the dining area. Large windows let in an abundance of natural light, creating a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. It’s an ideal setting for a relaxed and comfortable dining experience.
After looking at their set meal, I ordered their XO sauce fried beef with chives set lunch which cost RM30 after including the 16% Service tax.
Here's what you can expect from XO Sauce Fried Beef with Chives Set Lunch:
- The Main Dish
At the heart of the meal is a plate of thinly sliced beef, stir-fried to perfection with fresh chives, red capsicum, and a generous helping of rich XO sauce. The beef is tender and infused with the umami-packed sauce, which carries a hint of heat from chilli peppers. Crispy fried wonton skins are served alongside, adding a delightful crunch that contrasts beautifully with the savoury beef.
This dish is paired with a bowl of steamed white rice, offering a neutral base to soak up the flavorful sauce.

To start, you’re served a small cup of light, clear Chinese-style soup. Its delicate flavours complement the richness of the main dish, acting as a palate cleanser between bites.
- The Herbal Drink
A refreshing herbal drink accompanies the meal. Served cold, it has a mildly sweet and earthy taste that helps balance the overall richness of the set. It’s a perfect thirst-quencher, especially on warm days.
- The Dessert
To round off the meal, you’ll enjoy a bowl of chilled Chinese herbal jelly (Gui Ling Gao). This traditional dessert is slightly bittersweet and served with light syrup. It’s not just a satisfying end to the meal but also a cooling treat that adds a healthy twist.

I'm not familiar with Gui Ling Gao. It looks really rich in flavor.
