Black market Kakuni rice set

Today I have lunch at Black Market restaurant inside the Isetan at KLCC. This is a Spanish and Red Wine restaurant that offers Asian cuisine.

This time I ordered their Kakuni rice set, it cost RM33 per set with service tax included. The set comes with white rice, pickles, edamame and miso soup.

For those who don't know what Kakuni is, it is a Japanese braised pork dish which means "square simmered". Kakuni is made of thick cubes of pork belly simmered in dashi, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sake. By cooking it for a long time over a low temperature the collagen breaks down into gelatin keeping the meat moist while becoming extremely tender allowing it to be consumed with chopsticks easily.
