Andreas Christensen, 28, had to undergo a minor operation on his left foot to solve the problem of Achilles tendonitis that he had been suffering from since 2022 and prevented him from playing without pain. After conservative treatment did not have the expected effect, and taking into account that the Dane has only been able to play 26 minutes this season - those he played in the first matchday against Valencia - the Barça centre-back was finally operated on. According to the Danish channel Viaplay, Christensen underwent an outpatient operation in Sweden three weeks ago and returned this past Monday to have the stitches removed.

The club downplays the importance of this operation, and considers it part of the treatment. In fact, they expect his return to the pitch to start training within 15 or 20 days. From then on, he will start working on the pitch and will gradually increase the intensity but knowing that, at least, he will not be able to play until January 1st because his federation card is currently being used by Dani Olmo.

Since his arrival in the summer of 2022, Andreas Christensen played 32 games in his first season - 18 of them complete. In the following season, 2023-24, he played 42, but only reached 90 minutes in eleven of them. Hence, in the summer he decided to make the decision to put an end to his tendinopathy and Hansi Flick told him to take his time so that he could return without discomfort. After his intervention, everything indicates that he will have achieved it.

See You soon! 🏐
