Hive FPL Winners and Planning for Next Season
At the start of the season, we set out with a goal to grow into a large FPl community and for the most part, I'm pleased to say that we have achieved our goal. This was achieved through a collaborative effort with sponsors and community managers that have interacted to make this project a huge success.
Special thanks go out to the OCD project for backing us with upvotes throughout the season that have amounted to much more than I could ever dream of. This has gotten us to this position where we have a prize pool of 3,000 Hive for the winners of the first season of Hive FPL.
This was not a season like any other with twists and turns along the way, surprise title contenders, surprise relegations and so much to unpack. On top of all that, there was also the World Cup in between and as a community, we got on board with it by running a small side contest that spanned the 4 weeks of the tournament.
At the end of the day, I'd say that this first season has been quite the success and there's still so much more to come from this community. We have already started making plans for next season that aim to grow the community and also increase engagement in the Sportstalksocial community.
Our aims for this season will carry over to next season but we will be gunning for more and will be hoping for even more growth in the community.
Introducing the Winners of Hive FPL Season 1
- Hive FPL season 1 had a total of 118 participating teams in the league
- 86 teams were eligible for reward because they linked or created Hive accounts during the course of the season. Check this Spreadsheet for reference
- At the start of the season, I came up with a sharing rato for the top 10 that I shared with our major sponsor in this comment to @acidyo. Here is a screenshot of the evidence
The top 10 eligible teams will receive rewards according to the aforementioned schedule. Here are the top 10 teams;
@deniskj finished at first position with 2,612 points, worldwide ranking of 8,219 and was 20th in Kenya. He had an incredible season where he pushed his way into first position and never looked back.
@borran was a late bloomer in the league that surged to prominence during the course of the season. He finished with 2,593 points in second place of the Hive FPL, 16026 overall and 156 among Finnish players.
@thoth442 actually came 6th in the league but earns the third place prize because the teams above did not register their Hive usernames on time. Make no mistakes though, this team was also a force to reckon with ending the season with 2523 points, coming in at 110,841 position worldwide and 944 among Thailand players.
@gvkanten comes in fourth, trailing 3rd place by only a small margin. This team finished the season with 2,509 points, a worldwide ranking of 146,704 and an 11th placed finish among players from Curacao.
@skanderh closely followed with a total points tally of 2500 points, a worldwide ranking of 170,568 and 524 positions among Tunisian players.
@talesfrmthecrypt who is also among the community managers finished the season with 2,495 points, 186,283 world ranking and 61,457 among players from England.
@presh finished with 2,477points, 250,495 world ranking and 3,168 from Nigeria
@blockchainfpl: 2,475 points, 258,001 world ranking, 84,790 among players from England
@khaleesii 2,454 points, 347,494 world ranking, 4,868 among players in Nigeria
@yagman01 2,441 points, 409,915 world ranking, 6,021 among players in Nigeria

Sportstalk Social Award
Sports token will be staked into the top 30 accounts equally. The aim is to distribute the token and encourage participants to share on the platform.
Total Prize pool: 8,056,733 Sports Token
Everyone receives 268,557 Sports tokens staked into their account.
There are a lot of awards to share, so it might take a while to complete but rest assured, it is coming your way.
NB: 140 HBD was retained in the Hive FPL account and will be transparently used for the management of the project. There is also 61.57 Hive power that gives us ample resource credit for interaction on Hive and we also hope it grows to give us more curation strength.
Plans for next season
We are already making tentative plans for next season and the hope is that we will be able to bring more activity to Hive through the Sportstalk Social community. Some of our plans include:
- An FPL trivia game
- A new logo
- Multiple head-to-head leagues
- Hive FPL participation badge
- Bringing in more players into the league
Thanks for the support
This project started off as an idea and we brought it to life. I am grateful to our sponsors and all the authors that made this a reality.
Join our Discord Community, shitpost banter, football gossip, opinions and get information about our plans for the coming season.
Can I get a trophy too. Surely I get one to put on my tv stand.😅😅
Anyway, what a season. It was a crazy ending but I am happy not to have bottled it knowing very well some people in the discord were waiting with pitch forks.
I am definitely looking forward to next season. Congratulations to all the winners. 🎉🎉
We could definitely look at getting a badge on PeakD!
Ahh, that would be nice.
@arcange any chance? Pretty please
Congratulations @deniskj, we'll be coming for you next season 😉
One season wonder. No doubt!
Ha ha! I hope so - although his performance in the Fantasy Euros suggests otherwise! I think that we need to up our game.
Congratulations champs✨
Amazing! I am so happy and grateful for the prizes. Thanks to the hivefpl team for putting this together. You did an incredible job organizing and regularly putting out great content to read and engage with. Whenever I had a chance to hang out on the discord during game times it was always super welcoming and fun. None of my friends play fpl, so being part of the hivefpl community was what really made this season fun for me. Thanks and great game to everyone who played and looking forward to next season!
I think having a community to play FPL with is key. This is the first time in about 10 years that I've really engaged with it past the first couple of months of the season

I wished to have been part of the season one of the fantasy. But I’m surely gonna participate in the season two. Thank you for organizing such a great event
Congratulations to all the winners! Those are really impressive scores and I only got 1887 points. Hope to join the league next season. Completely missed the signups this time around.
Thanks to everybody who took the time to organise and post updates throughout the season. Thank you also for the award of a prize.
I found this season difficult with so little variety in people's teams (and the way the double gameweeks were scheduled made it difficult to gain ground) but hopefully I'll be up there again next season, this time challenging for the title.
Congratulations to all the winners and I look forward to going again next season 👍
And for the newbie, how do Sports Tokens work?
There’s a million dollar question.
So Hive has its main tokens HIVE and HBD but it also has 2nd layer tokens. There are hundreds of them! One is the SPORTS token which is awarded for creating content within the #sportstalk community.
Essentially they work in exactly the same way as HIVE does but only within that community. So you can stake them and increase your voting power and governance or you can sell the liquid token for HIVE or other tokens.
Hive Engine is where most 2nd layer tokens can be found and traded.

You can also see your current balance via the PeakD interface
Here’s yours …
Great, thank you. I was aware of Peakd's existence but haven't taken the time to look at it. I'll take a look at hive-engine too 👍
Hoorah! My vote's worth $0.01 😁
Thank you so much, congratulations everyone
Great first year. Really well done. It is only going to push on from here. I was talking to a friend of mine about the Hive FPL prize as in the prize for winning the entire thing with the FPL . I think the guy last year received an all expenses trip to a Premiership game and that was it. This 3000 Hive for first place is a significant prize. I think we should emphasise this for next year.
Happy to have been a part of hivefpl's inaugural season, I sort of fell by the way side from the start, but the second half of the season I did really well, i'm hoping i can start next season well and see where i end up. Hopefully i enter a podium
